Position Summary

The Surveillance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and reliability of surveillance equipment and systems throughout Primm Valley Casino Resorts. This position ensures surveillance cameras, recording devices, monitors, video storage systems, cabling, networking components, and related equipment remain fully operational and provide continuous coverage to support the property’s security, safety, regulatory, and investigative functions.

The Surveillance Technician takes a proactive approach to identifying and correcting equipment deficiencies before they impact surveillance operations. This position works closely with Surveillance personnel, management, Information Technology, Facilities, and outside vendors as needed while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality, security, professionalism, and system integrity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, test, and replace surveillance cameras, DVR/NVR systems, monitors, video storage equipment, power supplies, and related surveillance equipment.
- Install, adjust, focus, align, and replace surveillance cameras to ensure optimal image quality, positioning, and coverage.
- Conduct routine inspections of surveillance equipment to verify proper operation, image clarity, positioning, connectivity, and functionality.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance program for surveillance cameras and related equipment.
- Clean, inspect, and test surveillance cameras and equipment to maintain optimal image quality and operational readiness.
- Identify and correct issues such as dirty lenses, obstructed camera views, damaged equipment, loose mounting hardware, poor image quality, power failures, connectivity issues, and cabling problems.
- Proactively identify equipment deficiencies and take corrective action before they result in reduced or interrupted surveillance coverage.
- Troubleshoot cameras, monitors, cabling, power supplies, networking components, recording systems, video management systems, and other surveillance-related equipment.
- Install, terminate, test, label, document, and troubleshoot network and CAT cabling.
- Assist with basic network connectivity and configuration issues affecting surveillance systems.
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine whether repairs can be completed internally or require vendor support or escalation.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers regarding equipment repairs, system maintenance, installations, upgrades, and technical support.
- Maintain surveillance equipment rooms, storage areas, workspaces, tools, and related areas in a clean, organized, secure, and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance, repairs, equipment replacements, troubleshooting activities, inventory, and system issues.
- Communicate equipment deficiencies, system concerns, maintenance needs, and operational issues to Surveillance personnel and management in a timely manner.
- Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions, system failures, and urgent surveillance-related issues.
- Support surveillance system installations, upgrades, expansions, and other technical projects as assigned.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, security protocols, and applicable gaming and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding surveillance operations, investigations, recordings, security systems, and department activities.
- Protect the integrity, security, and confidentiality of surveillance equipment, systems, recordings, and related information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on call assignments based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

Basic Surveillance Technician Requirements

- Basic knowledge of CCTV, IP cameras, video surveillance, and related security systems.
- General understanding of computers, networking, low voltage systems, and electronic equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot cameras, monitors, cabling, power supplies, recording systems, and related surveillance equipment.
- Ability to install, adjust, focus, align, and replace surveillance cameras as required.
- Ability to install, terminate, test, label, and troubleshoot network and CAT cabling.
- Ability to safely use basic hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, cable testers, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to identify equipment problems, determine appropriate corrective action, and recognize when vendor support or escalation is necessary.
- Ability to develop, follow, and maintain preventative maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Ability to inspect, clean, test, and maintain surveillance cameras and equipment to ensure optimal image quality and operational readiness.
- Ability to identify potential equipment failures and take corrective action before they affect surveillance operations.
- Ability to maintain accurate maintenance, repair, inventory, and equipment records.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and respond to equipment issues in a timely manner.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and understand the security sensitive nature of a Surveillance Department.
- Must demonstrate dependability, reliability, professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Must be willing and able to respond to urgent surveillance equipment issues when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience with CCTV, surveillance, security systems, or low voltage installations.
- Experience with IP based surveillance camera systems and video management software.
- Experience troubleshooting DVR/NVR systems and video storage equipment.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and basic network troubleshooting.
- Experience with CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, fiber optic, or other low voltage cabling.
- Technical certification in surveillance, low-voltage systems, networking, electronics, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a casino, hospitality, security, gaming, or other highly regulated environment.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to work at heights using ladders, lifts, scaffolding, or elevated work platforms.
- Ability to access ceiling spaces, above ceiling areas, rooftops, and other elevated or confined work locations as required.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, cable testing equipment, and diagnostic devices.
- Ability to distinguish colors when identifying cables, wires, and electrical connections.
- Ability to perform installation, maintenance, and repair tasks throughout the property and in varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to work in areas with active guests, employees, equipment, and ongoing casino operations while maintaining appropriate safety and confidentiality standards.

Work Environment

The Surveillance Technician works in an active, security-sensitive casino and hospitality environment and may perform duties throughout Primm Valley Casino Resorts. Work locations may include surveillance offices, equipment rooms, ceilings, above ceiling spaces, rooftops, exterior areas, mechanical areas, and other locations requiring surveillance system installation, inspection, troubleshooting, or maintenance.

The position may involve exposure to varying temperatures, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, and areas with active guests, employees, and operating equipment. The Surveillance Technician must consistently demonstrate professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to maintaining reliable surveillance coverage and system performance.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of applicable pre-employment screening requirements, including background screening and drug testing, in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
