Field Service Engineer

Job Title: Field Service Engineer Job Description
This role involves building machines and troubleshooting customer machinery to ensure optimal performance. You will utilize blueprints to install and program customized machines, wire electrical panels, and troubleshoot machinery using PLCs. You will be trained on the machines you commission and will communicate with customers to provide technical assistance. Your work will involve using machine operation, maintenance manuals, drawings, blueprints, and schematics to troubleshoot mechanical equipment. You will coordinate parts and documentation following service calls, emails, and field trips, with domestic travel to customer locations approximately 2-3 days a month. You will act as a contact for the company, handling service calls, emails, and customer visits.
Responsibilities
- Build and troubleshoot customer machinery for adjustments.
- Use blueprints to install and program customized machines.
- Wire electrical panels and troubleshoot machinery using PLCs.
- Communicate with customers to provide technical assistance.
- Use manuals and schematics to troubleshoot mechanical equipment.
- Coordinate parts and documentation resulting from service calls.
- Travel domestically to customer locations for 2-3 days a month.
- Act as a contact for service calls, emails, and customer visits.
Essential Skills
- Experience in troubleshooting machinery.
- Machine commissioning expertise.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Ability to wire electrical panels.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Travel experience is advantageous.
- Experience in GMP or food industry is beneficial.
- Balanced mechanical/electrical skills (50/50).
- Service experience is a plus.
Work Environment
The work environment includes manufacturing food processing equipment. It is a clean, well-maintained, and fast-paced setting with about 12 people in the shop. The environment is quiet and temperature-controlled, ensuring it does not get too hot or cold. Team collaboration is emphasized, ensuring everyone gels well.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mokena, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
