Job Title: Phlebotomist II Job Description
The role of a Phlebotomist II involves assisting in various tasks related to blood and specimen collection, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
- Understand and execute physicians' orders accurately.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

- 2-4 years of experience in a related field
Work Environment
The position is based in Itasca or Tinley Park, depending on the applicant's residence. The role involves floating to various locations including Chicago, Tinley Park, Blue Island, Des Plaines, Evanston, Arlington Heights, Bloomingdale, Chicago Heights, and West Chicago. Work hours are scheduled between 7am to 9pm from Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays with varying hours. The work environment is dynamic, requiring flexibility in scheduling within these hours.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
