Here's how a(n) Accountant for our Nassal office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

- Performs clerical and data entry support to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting.

- Processes all accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner.

- Provides project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as the need arises.

- Assists with the assembly of information for internal and external financial reporting requirements.

- Assembles client billing packages in accordance with contract terms and conditions and ensures timely payment.

- Prepares bank deposits and cash receipt entries.

Sales & Use Tax Responsibilities:

- Prepare, review, and file multi-state sales and use tax returns in a timely and accurate manner.

- Monitor tax compliance requirements and ensure adherence to applicable state and local tax regulations.

- Research sales and use tax issues and provide recommendations on taxability and compliance matters.

- Reconcile sales and use tax accounts and support audits, inquiries, and assessments from taxing authorities.

- Collaborate with project teams, procurement, and accounts payable to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions.

- Maintain exemption certificates and support ongoing tax process improvements and compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

- High school diploma, Bachelor’s degree, or diploma in a related field is considered an asset.

- Experience preparing and filing multi-state sales and use tax returns, preferred.

- Knowledge of state and local sales/use tax regulations, exemption certificate management, and tax audit support, preferred.

- Experience within the construction industry or project-based accounting environment, preferred.

- Some student experience or 6 months to 1 year of accounting or administrative experience is preferred.

- Exposure to project forecasting and budgeting.

- Basic understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows.

- Exposure to project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements as related to accounting

- Exposure to subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance requirements.

- Basic understanding of lien rights.

- Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information.

- Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software is an asset.
