Job Title: Safety Specialist Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Safety Specialist for a temporary position on the 1st shift, with the potential for overtime and the opportunity to transition into a permanent role. The position offers an engaging work environment where you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental and safety policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular environmental and safety audits to assess compliance and identify potential hazards.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental policies, safety practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage hazardous materials and waste programs, including storage, disposal, and documentation.
- Investigate workplace accidents or environmental incidents and implement corrective measures.
- Coordinate with management and cross-functional departments to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Stay current with environmental and safety legislation and advise the company on necessary actions.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit safety and environmental reports to relevant authorities.
Essential Skills
- 0-2 years of experience in environmental health and safety management.
- Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) laws and regulations.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and enforce safety standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for employee training and coaching.
- Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
- Proficiency with EHS-related software and reporting tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred certifications such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and OSHA Certifications.
- CHST and OSHA 30 certifications are a plus.
- Experience in construction safety and safety training.
Work Environment
This position operates on the 1st shift with the potential for overtime. The work environment is dynamic, with a focus on safety and compliance. You will work closely with management and various departments to ensure a safe and compliant workspace.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Huntsville, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $29.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
