About this role

At Polaris Inc., we have fun doing what we love by driving change and innovation. We empower employees to take on challenging assignments and roles with an elevated level of responsibility in our agile working environment. Our people make us who we are, and we create incredible products and experiences that empower us to THINK OUTSIDE.

Position Overview:

The Global Strategic Sourcing Manager leads the team responsible for the electrical category strategy, commercial performance, supplier development, and supply continuity. In this role, you will translate business and product plans into clear priorities while strengthening team capability, accountability, and operating rhythm. Partnering across Product Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, Planning, Finance, Program Management, and Supply Chain Risk Management, you optimize the supplier base and ensure category strategies balance competitiveness, innovation, quality, continuity, working capital, and total enterprise value. This is a compelling opportunity to influence critical product, supplier, and operational decisions through people leadership, commercial judgment, market awareness, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the Electrical sourcing team by setting direction, clarifying ownership, coaching team members, aligning work with capabilities, and holding the team accountable for business outcomes.

• Develop and execute multi-year category strategies that integrate product roadmaps, market intelligence, cost drivers, supplier capabilities, quality, capacity, regional footprint, working capital, and continuity risk.

• Own category cost and commercial performance by directing negotiation strategies, sourcing events, productivity plans, supplier recovery actions, and long-term agreements covering price, tooling, capital, intellectual property, payment terms, warranty, and capacity.

• Direct forward-looking capacity and demand reviews, identify emerging supplier constraints, establish mitigation and recovery plans, and escalate supply continuity risks with clear owners, timelines, and stakeholder communication.

• Optimize and strengthen the supplier base through consolidation, spend leverage, regionalization, complexity reduction, strategic supplier development, and qualified alternatives that reduce dependency and challenge incumbent suppliers.

• Develop the team’s commercial contracting capability by providing direction on negotiation strategy, contract structure, commercial risk mitigation, and supplier agreements.

• Partner with Engineering, Quality, Planning, and program teams to influence architecture, specifications, supplier selection, sourcing timing, manufacturability, and new product introduction decisions while maintaining appropriate functional accountability.

• Lead strategic supplier management through business reviews, performance scorecards, executive engagement, corrective actions, and an effective balance of partnership, accountability, urgency, and competitive discipline.

• Build fact-based business cases, align stakeholders, facilitate timely decisions, and communicate performance, risks, trade-offs, and required leadership actions across the enterprise.

• Improve organizational capability and efficiency by standardizing sourcing governance, developing team skills, applying analytics and metrics, and reducing non-value-added work.

Desired Competencies:

• Leadership: You inspire, guide, and empower others to achieve their best by setting clear direction, fostering trust, and creating an environment where people feel supported, motivated, and accountable for delivering results.

• Business Acumen: You understand how your work impacts financial performance, operational efficiency, and organizational goals, and you make decisions with the broader business context in mind.

• Collaboration: You work effectively with others across functions and levels, contributing to shared goals while respecting different perspectives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, Finance, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, category management, procurement, engineering, planning, supplier quality, operations, or a related commercial or technical function.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop individuals or teams and deliver results through others.

• Proven experience developing strategies, leading complex initiatives, or translating business and technical requirements into executable plans.

• Demonstrated success leading complex commercial negotiations and directing the development, execution, and management of supplier agreements, including the ability to guide teams in contract strategy, commercial risk assessment, negotiation planning, and terms that protect the business while supporting category, cost, quality, capacity, and supply continuity objectives.

• Strong financial and analytical capabilities, including total-cost analysis, business case development, market benchmarking, and interpretation of complex data.

• Experience influencing product, supplier, operational, or sourcing decisions in a matrixed organization.

• Strong executive communication, presentation, project management, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to balance strategic priorities and urgent supplier or supply issues in a changing environment.

• Experience with new product introduction, stage-gate development, Design-to-Value, VA/VE, modular sourcing, or should-cost methodologies is preferred.

• Knowledge of purchasing contracts, tooling, intellectual property, supplier quality systems, and lean principles is preferred; an MBA, advanced technical degree, or relevant professional certification is also preferred.

• This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
