Canvasser – Door-to-Door Voter Outreach

Position Summary

MF Professional Services, Inc. (MFPS) is seeking motivated Canvassers to conduct door-to-door voter outreach on behalf of its clients, including Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia en Accin.

Canvassers travel through assigned residential neighborhoods, knock on doors, speak directly with community members, and provide approved information about voter registration, voter education, civic participation, and Get Out the Vote initiatives. Canvassers must accurately record each interaction, safeguard voter information and registration materials, and follow all field, safety, and reporting procedures.

This is a temporary position. Continued employment is not guaranteed and depends on operational needs, funding, and performance.

Essential Responsibilities

- Conduct door-to-door canvassing within assigned neighborhoods and geographic areas.

- Engage community members respectfully using approved scripts, talking points, and materials.

- Provide accurate information about voter registration, voter education, voting options, and approved civic-engagement initiatives.

- Assist eligible individuals with voter-registration applications in accordance with applicable laws and organizational procedures.

- Accurately record doors knocked, voter contacts, responses, registrations, and other required campaign data.

- Use VAN, MiniVAN, mobile applications, or other approved field technology.

- Protect voter information and all completed, incomplete, spoiled, and unused registration forms.

- Return voter-registration forms, equipment, and campaign materials by established deadlines.

- Attend required launches, trainings, safety briefings, check-ins, and daily debriefings.

- Follow assigned turf, schedules, door-count goals, and reporting expectations.

- Maintain regular communication with the Canvass Lead and promptly report field or safety concerns.

- Respect individuals who decline to participate or request that the conversation end.

- Follow property-access, solicitation, trespass, data-security, voter-registration, and workplace safety requirements.

- Represent MFPS and its clients professionally during all community interactions.

- Accurately record all hours worked and follow attendance, meal-period, and rest-break procedures.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Previous canvassing, voter-registration, community outreach, campaign, customer service, sales, or other public-facing experience preferred.

- Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.

- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable approaching and speaking with community members at their homes.

- Ability to follow scripts, instructions, turf assignments, and reporting procedures accurately.

- Ability to accept coaching and work collaboratively as part of a field team.

- Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, or mobile canvassing application.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle registration forms accurately and securely.

- Experience working with Latino or diverse communities preferred.

- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

- Ability to work flexible daytime, evening, and Saturday schedules.

- Must satisfy any voter-registration eligibility, training, or certification requirements applicable in the assigned jurisdiction.

Physical and Work Requirements

This is a field-based position requiring extended periods of walking and standing outdoors. Canvassers must be able to travel on foot through residential neighborhoods; navigate sidewalks, stairs, uneven surfaces, and varying terrain; and work in changing weather conditions.

The position requires the ability to carry outreach materials weighing up to 25 pounds and regularly use a mobile device, a clipboard, voter-registration forms, and other field supplies. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for qualified individuals with disabilities.
