About this role
Job Description:
Our Opportunity
Chewy is seeking a Consumer Insights Manager to join our Consumer Insights team in Boston, MA. This hands-on manager and analyst role will help strengthen Chewy's consumer-centric approach by leading small to mid-sized research projects, supporting recurring insights programs, and turning data into clear implications for the business. Working closely with Consumer Insights leaders and partners across Marketing, Analytics, Product, and customer-facing teams, this person will connect insights across brand health, customer behavior, competitive intelligence, cultural insights, syndicated sources, and primary research. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable digging into the data, managing the details of research execution, and communicating the story behind the findings.
What You'll Do
- Lead defined research projects. Independently manage small to mid-sized quantitative and qualitative studies from business question through approach, questionnaire or discussion guide, fieldwork, analysis, and final story.
- Dig into brand health and measurement. Support the day-to-day management and analysis of Chewy's brand tracking programs, including funnel performance, equity measures, audience differences, competitive context, and changes over time. Partner with Brand, Media, and Analytics teams to evaluate campaign performance across awareness, ad recall, message association, familiarity, and consideration. Connect campaign-level results with brand-health trends to identify what is working, for whom, and where additional learning is needed.
- Connect the dots across data. Integrate findings from surveys, customer and behavioral metrics, syndicated tools, competitive intelligence, and prior research to identify patterns, explain what is changing, and surface the most important implications.
- Translate findings into action. Build clear, concise reports and presentations that move beyond data reporting to explain the customer tension, the business impact, and recommended next steps.
- Run recurring insights workstreams. Manage Chewy's DIY survey platform and omnibus, support monthly and quarterly reporting, and maintain consistent quality, timing, and documentation across repeatable programs.
- Build actionable audience intelligence. Use audience platforms and syndicated tools to size and profile priority audiences, understand their attitudes and media behaviors, and translate findings into clear inputs for audience strategy, media planning, and activation.
- Apply a cultural intelligence lens. Identify how cultural shifts and differences across audiences influence pet-parent needs, brand perceptions, and behaviors, translating these insights into opportunities for more relevant and inclusive marketing and customer experiences.
- Maintain consistent measurement. Support the development of repeatable scorecards and benchmarks for upper-funnel performance, including campaign, channel, creative, and audience-level results.
- Ensure research quality. Review survey programming, sample plans, data tables, outputs, and deliverables for accuracy; identify inconsistencies and resolve issues before work is shared with stakeholders.
- Support larger strategic programs. Partner with senior Consumer Insights leads on high-impact initiatives by owning analyses, research workstreams, timelines, and deliverables while maintaining visibility across multiple priorities.
- Bring the consumer into the conversation. Share findings in working sessions and stakeholder presentations, answer follow-up questions with evidence, and help teams apply insights to marketing, brand, product, and customer experience decisions.
What You'll Need
- Education. Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, statistics, research, social sciences, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in consumer insights, market research, analytics, or a related field, ideally supporting consumer, retail, e-commerce, or technology brands.
- Collaborative mindset. A curious, proactive, hands-on partner who asks thoughtful questions, works well across teams, and thrives in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment.
- End-to-end research skills. Hands-on experience designing and executing quantitative and qualitative research, with the judgment to independently lead clearly scoped studies and seek guidance on larger or more ambiguous work.
- Strong analytical foundation. Ability to work directly with crosstabs and datasets, analyze trends and audience differences, understand statistical significance, diagnose drivers, and reconcile findings across multiple sources.
- Brand measurement experience. Experience with brand health, equity, funnel, customer experience, NPS, or other tracking programs, including interpreting movement over time and competitive benchmarks.
- Media and audience measurement experience. Familiarity with brand-lift studies, upper-funnel media metrics, audience profiling, segmentation, and syndicated audience tools. Ability to connect media results with broader brand-health and customer insights is strongly preferred.
- Insight synthesis and storytelling. Strong writing and presentation skills, with the ability to turn detailed analysis into a focused narrative, meaningful human insight, and practical business implications.
- Executional discipline. Strong project management, organization, and attention to detail, with a track record of balancing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality work on time.
- Tools and data fluency. Experience with survey platforms, Excel or similar analytical tools, and syndicated data sources such as Nielsen, MRI-Simmons, Numerator, or YouGov. Familiarity with visualization or statistical software is a plus.
- Vendor and communication skills. Experience coordinating research vendors and presenting findings to cross-functional stakeholders. Experience conducting qualitative interviews is a plus.
