Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Responsibilities - As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will provide occupational therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist while helping patients improve independence with daily living activities, mobility, safety, and overall function.

Key Responsibilities

· Implement occupational therapy treatment plans established by the Occupational Therapist.

· Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), self-care skills, mobility, and functional tasks.

· Provide therapeutic activities and exercises to improve strength, coordination, balance, and functional performance.

· Monitor patient progress and communicate outcomes to the supervising Occupational Therapist.

· Complete clinical documentation accurately and timely.

· Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.

· Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques, equipment use, home safety, and strategies to improve independence while maintaining compliance with professional practice standards.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

· Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

· Current and unrestricted Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) license in the state of practice.

· NBCOT certification preferred where applicable.

· New graduates welcome to apply where applicable.

· Foreign-trained applicants must possess credentials deemed substantially equivalent by the applicable credentialing organization.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, home health, assisted living, or post-acute care settings preferred.

· Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs), adaptive equipment, cognitive rehabilitation, and functional mobility training.

· Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.

· Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
