About the Role

The Engineer, Automation will support Magna's Factory of the Future (FoF) Strategy focused on advanced automation, intelligent manufacturing systems, and humanoid robotics applications. This role will work closely with global R&D teams, manufacturing operations, and external technology partners to evaluate, develop, and deploy next-generation automation solutions across Magna facilities.

The successful candidate will contribute to automation projects involving robotics, machine vision, AI-enabled systems, autonomous material handling, and humanoid robot integration. This position requires a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges and implementing innovative technologies in production environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Support evaluation and deployment of advanced automation and humanoid robotics technologies within manufacturing and assembly operations.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to identify suitable applications for advanced robotics and intelligent automation solutions.
- Conduct feasibility studies, process analysis, and cycle time assessments for automation opportunities.
- Assist with development, testing, validation, and commissioning of automation systems.
- Support robot programming, system integration, and troubleshooting activities.
- Participate in pilot projects involving AI-enabled manufacturing technologies, machine vision, autonomous systems, and humanoid robotics applications.
- Monitor project implementation progress and support adherence to timelines and deliverables.
- Collect and analyze operational data to assess system performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support external suppliers, integrators, and technology partners during project execution.
- Maintain compliance with Magna quality, safety, and engineering standards.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation Engineering, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in automation, robotics, manufacturing engineering, or related disciplines.
- Knowledge of industrial robotics platforms such as ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, or equivalent.
- Understanding of PLCs, industrial networking, controls systems, and automation architecture.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, assembly systems, and material handling applications.
- Programming experience in Python, C++, ROS, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with machine vision, AI applications, autonomous systems, or humanoid robotics is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Fluent in Mandarin; English communication skills required for collaboration with global teams.
