About this role
Description
Global Partner Development manages Amazon Ads' relationships with independent agency and technology partners worldwide. Partners are force multipliers for Amazon Ads, capable of scaling capability, reach, and advertiser outcomes in ways that Amazon cannot achieve through direct sales alone. GPD's job is to build the commercial and capability infrastructure that makes those partnerships productive at scale.
PDMs own the full partner relationship lifecycle: commercial framework, executive engagement, and strategic development, with one standard: partners grow because of Amazon, not despite it.
This is not an account management role. PDMs do not manage campaigns, resolve portal access issues, or own day-to-day execution. They own the long-horizon work that determines whether a partner deepens its commitment to Amazon Ads or finds a path around it. A PDM's most important output is a partner that cannot imagine its growth trajectory without Amazon Ads embedded in it.
Key job responsibilities
Executive Relationship Ownership
• Own the C-suite or most senior relationship with a defined set of agency or technology partners, including CEO, CMO, CRO, and CPO. These relationships are not shared, delegated, or rebuilt quickly if lost.
• Operate consistently at Director, VP, and C-suite level. Meetings produce commitments, not action items.
• Navigate partner organizations at multiple layers simultaneously, including holding company leadership, trading desk principals, and field teams. Influence at one level without losing credibility at another.
• Anticipate partner needs before they arrive. The bar is not responsiveness; it is foresight.
Joint Business Planning
• Architect Joint Business Plans (JBPs) that identify and activate growth pathways for each partner in your book. JBPs put the best of Amazon's resources to work for the partner's business, across marketing, product, and commercial enablement.
• Build JBPs with a two-to-three year horizon. Align partner investments to mutual growth priorities. Know how your partners' strategy is evolving before they tell you.
• Use the JBP as the primary vehicle for grounding the commercial relationship. The PA carries JBP strategy forward into targets and incentives. The scorecard holds both parties accountable and feeds the next JBP refresh.
Partner Agreement Strategy
• Lead the design, negotiation, and renewal of Partner Agreements (PAs) for every partner in your book. Own the commercial framework end to end, including structure, incentive design, and close.
• Co-develop targets with partners based on a genuine understanding of their book of business, growth potential, and client demand. Targets should reflect real stretch and a shared plan to reach them.
• Build PAs that reflect a genuine commercial bet. Both sides have skin in the game and a shared plan to grow.
• Work the year after next. PA renewals should feel like a natural output of the relationship, not a once-a-year negotiation.
Strategic Intelligence and Positioning
• Stay ahead of where each partner is going strategically, including their product roadmap, competitive pressures, organizational changes, and how Amazon Ads fits their long-term model.
• Translate partner signals into a clear internal point of view on how Amazon should engage, invest, or course-correct.
• Use pattern recognition across your book to surface systemic issues. A policy gap that affects one partner likely affects twenty.
Commercial Development
• Identify incremental revenue opportunities within your partner book, with a focus on Amazon-native capability adoption rather than undifferentiated volume.
• Drive adoption of Amazon-native capabilities across partner tech and media roadmaps, including AMC, programmatic video, and first-party data integrations, so that partner-driven revenue is built on Amazon’s unique advantages, not on price or undifferentiated scale.
• Collaborate with product, GGS, and finance to structure incentives, resolve blockers, and close commercial gaps.
Operational Rigor and Delivery
• Translate strategy into execution, ensuring commitments made in planning are delivered through structured follow-through, clear ownership, and measurable outcomes.
• Build partner capability as a core part of the role. Partners deepen their Amazon expertise, unlock differentiation, and adopt the products that drive Quality Dollar growth through PDM-led enablement.
• Serve as the voice of your partners internally. Bring partner feedback, product gaps, and market intelligence to the teams that can act on it.
• Escalate execution work to the right operational channels rather than absorbing it personally. Every hour spent on account management is an hour not spent on the next PA or integration.
