Position Summary

You will lead computational efforts to characterise biological targets using genetics, genomics and multi-omic data. You will work closely with laboratory scientists, clinicians and data engineers to turn large datasets into clear, evidence-based recommendations for target selection and validation. Responsibilities

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
- Design and run analyses of human genetics and genomics data to generate target evidence and biological insight.
- Develop, evaluate and productionise reproducible analysis pipelines for genetics and multi-omic data.
- Integrate genetic, transcriptomic and other data to build evidence packages that inform project decisions.
- Collaborate across teams to translate analytical results into clear recommendations for research programmes.
- Communicate findings clearly to scientific and non-scientific colleagues through written reports and presentations.
- Mentor colleagues and promote best practice in data quality, reproducibility and documentation.

Basic Qualification

We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:
- PhD or equivalent experience in human genetics, computational biology, statistical genetics, bioinformatics or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience analysing large-scale genetic or genomic datasets (for example, GWAS, exome/genome sequencing, array data).
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or R, and experience building reproducible workflows.
- Experience integrating multiple data types (genetics, transcriptomics, clinical data) to support biological interpretation.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Role is hybrid based in Germany; you will spend regular time on-site and have agreed flexible remote working.

Preferred Qualification

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Experience with cloud or distributed computing tools (for example BigQuery, Spark) and containerisation (Docker).
- Familiarity with workflow managers (Nextflow, Snakemake) and software engineering practices for reproducible research.
- Experience with fine-mapping, colocalisation, burden testing or single-cell genomics analyses.
- Applied knowledge of machine learning methods for genomics and multi-omic integration.
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications, open-source contributions or public datasets/tools.
- Experience mentoring staff or leading small cross-functional project teams.

Germany Salary Range / Gehaltsbandbreiten Deutschland: EUR 74,250 to EUR 123,750For positions covered by collective bargaining, employment conditions and remuneration are determined by the applicable collective agreements for the chemical industry as well as internal policies.
