Asbestos Trainer and Consultant

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality asbestos consultancy, training, and audit services to external clients across a range of sectors. You will provide expert advice and practical support to help clients effectively manage asbestos risks, meet their legal and regulatory responsibilities, and maintain safe environments for employees, contractors, and building occupants.

Working closely with clients and the wider SOCOTEC team, you will undertake a variety of asbestos-related consultancy assignments, deliver engaging and informative training courses, and carry out audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement. You will be expected to build strong professional relationships with clients, understand their individual requirements, and provide clear, practical, and commercially focused solutions.

The role will also involve working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, contributing to the delivery of high-quality projects and supporting the continued development of SOCOTEC’s asbestos consultancy and training services.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

- Development and delivery of training courses and carry out training including BOHS and UKATA courses. 
- Carry out consultancy, gap analysis and asbestos management plans.
- Promoting a right first-time culture within SOCOTEC and with wider stakeholders and clients.
- Provide in house mentoring and training.
- Work closely with SOCOTEC stakeholders – business development, Regional Managers, Project Managers etc. to develop existing client relationships, specifically in consultancy.
- Manage the client relationship within the region and beyond where required. Develop client relationship whilst providing a best-in-class service.
- Ability to think and operate in a fast-paced consultancy environment to promote the business commercially and sustain high technical standards.
- Monitoring, managing and reporting of ongoing contract metrics
- Ensure all client information is set up electronically; review the accuracy of this information on a regular basis.
- Report to Company Secretary and Divisional Operations Director any occurrences during business activity that may require reporting to our insurers or require legal advice.
- Maintain established business relationships with clients through the development of business opportunities and effective management of client portfolios providing quotes and specification of works as appropriate.

Qualifications

To be a successful Asbestos Trainer & Consultant , you should be able to demonstrate:

Essential:

- BOHS Certificate of Competence in Asbestos o Science degree qualification
- 10 plus years’ experience in the asbestos industry
- Experience of delivering BOHS asbestos courses
- Experience of delivering UKATA asbestos courses o Experience of writing and delivering Asbestos Management Plans (AMP’s)
- Experienced auditor o Full UK driving licence
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Desirable:

- Experience with UKAS accreditation systems 
- Working towards AFAAM level or higher
