## Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.  This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

## Job Summary:

In this role, you will plan, develop, and review electrical engineering design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review key electrical drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure electrical designs comply with all regulations and standards. This position is for a SmartPlant 3D Designer who will prepare electrical 3D designs as well as 2D electrical AutoCAD and SmartSketch designs to support Poland AP1000 Project. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will support design development of electrical systems and equipment for the Poland AP1000 project by preparing models, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. The candidate will work with electrical engineers, junior designers, and other technical disciplines in a team environment.

## Major Responsibilities:

- Administers work of Electrical designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings
- Develops designs for complete and complex Electrical engineering systems such as electrical rooms, equipment, cable tray, conduit, underground distribution (such as conduit duct bank), lighting, receptacles, etc.. with minimum supervision.
- Ensures Electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, local laws, regulations, and standards.
- Assists in constructing detailed scale models
- Ensures compliance with approved Electrical design standard, applicable installation codes, and regulations in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design
- Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by assigned designers/drafters for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality and satisfactory completion
- Participates in constructability reviews
- Coordinates the reviews for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline
- Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements
- Assists in the development of work plans, budgets, and schedules for basic Electrical designer tasks based on input and direction from supervisor in designated discipline
- Provides on-the-job training for personnel within Electrical design
- Generates 2D drawings or 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models with minimal guidance from others
- Reviews Electrical design scope changes, as required, for project management

Ensures Electrical systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards

## Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience

## Required Knowledge and Skills:

- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written and level B2 or better, and Polish C2/ Native Language level.
- Highly collaborative, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and within team environments.
- Must be able to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
- Career-level position within field
- Considered skilled and proficient in discipline
- Professional with an understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Knowledge of ATEX regulations and standards (Directive 2014/34/EU, PN-EN 60079).
- Knowledge and application of Polish laws, European regulations, and industry and regulatory codes and standards supporting design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
- Preferred: Licensed Professional Design Engineer (Poland) - Electrical engineer authorized to independently perform technical design tasks in construction, with experience in designing electrical and power installations. Holds unrestricted building qualifications in the electrical specialty and is a registered member of the Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers (PIIB)
- Preferred: Experience developing permitting design drawings and requirements in Poland.
