HIH - Software Engineering Advisor – SAP Procure-to-Pay (PTP) Technical Product Owner

Position Overview

The SAP Procure-to-Pay Technical Product Owner is accountable for the vision, strategy, roadmap, backlog, and measurable value of SAP S/4HANA Procure-to-Pay capabilities. This role connects procurement and finance stakeholders with architecture, engineering, integration, data, security, and support teams to deliver scalable, compliant, and user-centered solutions.

Job Overview:

The Product Owner translates business outcomes into prioritized epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release plans; makes timely scope and priority decisions; and ensures solutions align with enterprise architecture, Clean Core principles, global process standards, and the broader SAP transformation roadmap. The role retains sufficient functional and technical depth to guide solution design across SAP MM/PTP, EDI/IDoc, EWM, Finance-to-Manage, Order-to-Cash, Learn-to-Order, master data, SAP Fiori, BTP, and external supplier platforms.

Responsibilities:

Product Strategy, Roadmap & Agile Delivery

- Define and communicate the product vision, goals, roadmap, and outcome-based priorities for SAP S/4HANA PTP capabilities.
- Own and continuously refine the product backlog, including epics, features, user stories, technical enablers, defects, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and nonfunctional requirements.
- Prioritize work using business value, user impact, risk reduction, regulatory needs, architectural dependencies, operational stability, cost, and delivery capacity.
- Partner with business leaders, product management, architects, engineering teams, Scrum Masters, and delivery partners to establish release objectives and executable plans.
- Lead discovery, requirements workshops, process reviews, solution option analysis, and decomposition of business needs into implementation-ready backlog items.
- Participate actively in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily collaboration, sprint reviews, retrospectives, release planning, and program increment activities as applicable.
- Provide clear and timely decisions on scope, sequencing, tradeoffs, and acceptance; validate completed work against agreed acceptance criteria and product outcomes.
- Maintain stakeholder alignment through transparent roadmap, backlog, dependency, risk, release, and value-delivery reporting.

SAP Solution & Technical Ownership

- Guide end-to-end solution design across purchase requisitions, purchase orders, sourcing, contracts, service procurement, inventory movements, Logistics Invoice Verification, three-way matching, GR/IR, account determination, and supplier master data.
- Ensure product decisions align with SAP S/4HANA standards, enterprise architecture, Clean Core principles, reusable integration patterns, security, audit controls, and supportability expectations.
- Partner with solution and technical architects to evaluate configuration, extension, integration, workflow, reporting, data, automation, and custom-development options.
- Own functional intent and delivery outcomes for interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, workflows, APIs, OData services, CDS views, batch jobs, and related WRICEF objects.
- Drive cross-functional integration with SAP EWM, FTM/FI-CO, OTC/SD, LTO or eCommerce, master data, analytics, security, quality, external suppliers, logistics providers, and financial institutions.
- Ensure robust EDI, IDoc, API, file, and middleware capabilities, including mapping, routing, monitoring, reconciliation, exception handling, reprocessing, and trading-partner onboarding.
- Balance new capability delivery with technical debt reduction, reliability, performance, compliance, lifecycle management, and production support needs.

User Experience, Release & Value Management

- Champion intuitive, role-based SAP Fiori experiences across requisitioning, approvals, purchasing, goods receipt, supplier invoicing, exception management, and procurement analytics.
- Use stakeholder feedback, process data, support trends, and user research to identify pain points and prioritize improvements.
- Define release readiness and acceptance expectations across testing, security, data, integration, controls, training, cutover, communications, deployment, and support transition.
- Coordinate system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, cutover validation, hypercare, and post-production stabilization.
- Define product measures and monitor outcomes such as adoption, cycle time, automation, straight-through processing, supplier acknowledgment, receipt and invoice exceptions, blocked invoices, GR/IR aging, interface reliability, and user satisfaction.
- Inspect delivery results and operational performance, then adjust the roadmap and backlog to improve business value and product health.
- Support training, change management, release communications, user documentation, and adoption plans for global stakeholders.

Stakeholder & Operational Leadership

- Serve as the primary product decision-maker and trusted partner for procurement, finance, supply chain, operations, technology, and delivery stakeholders.
- Facilitate decisions across competing priorities, clarify tradeoffs, manage expectations, and escalate risks or impediments when necessary.
- Lead production issue prioritization, defect triage, root-cause follow-through, service restoration decisions, and continuous-improvement planning.
- Coordinate internal teams, external vendors, consultants, and managed-service partners while retaining accountability for product outcomes.
- Promote product thinking, Agile practices, knowledge transfer, transparency, and a culture of ownership across global delivery and support teams.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 11 or more years of SAP PTP/MM functional configuration and delivery experience, including at least one full SAP S/4HANA implementation.
- Advanced experience with purchasing, source determination, inventory management, Logistics Invoice Verification, three-way matching, GR/IR, account determination, supplier master data, and procurement controls.
- Strong hands-on experience with EDI and IDoc design, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, reprocessing, and trading-partner onboarding in a high-volume SAP environment.
- Demonstrated experience integrating PTP with SAP EWM, FTM/FI-CO, OTC/SD, LTO or eCommerce capabilities, master data, and external supplier systems.
- Experience creating functional specifications and leading delivery for interfaces, enhancements, APIs, workflows, reports, forms, and related WRICEF objects.
- Experience configuring, testing, supporting, and driving adoption of SAP Fiori applications, launchpad content, workflows, role-based access, and embedded analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end testing, defect resolution, cutover, hypercare, production support, and continuous improvement across multiple workstreams.
- Strong analytical, facilitation, documentation, stakeholder-management, and supplier-facing communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in pharmaceutical distribution, wholesale distribution, healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated and high-volume industry.
- Experience with SAP Integration Suite/CPI, PI/PO, BTP, APIs, OData services, CDS views, ALE, middleware monitoring, AS2, SFTP, or supplier-network integrations.
- Knowledge of common procurement and logistics EDI transactions, including purchase orders, acknowledgments, advance ship notices, invoices, inventory activity, remittance, and functional acknowledgments.
- Experience with decentralized or embedded SAP EWM integration, stock transport orders, intercompany procurement, third-party procurement, drop shipping, returns, and complex warehouse receiving scenarios.
- Experience with SAP Activate, Solution Manager, Cloud ALM, Jira, Confluence, Agile delivery, and global-template deployment.
- SAP certification in S/4HANA Sourcing and Procurement, Materials Management, Fiori, or a related discipline.

Work Hours:

Standard work hours are 2:30 PM to 11:30 PM IST, with flexibility required to support US Eastern Time business hours as needed.
