Description

Amazon’s Surface Transportation Operations team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supply Chain Manager to assist in the management of daily freight movements flowing into and out of our NA fulfillment centers and our associated fulfillment network.
People Manager role handing about 50-75 HC in a 24 X 7 shift Operations at HYD office. Role involves managing daily Service Levels, driving KPI’s apart from driving continuous improvement process and cost initiatives in the network.
The candidate should have a background in Supply chain/ transportation, loss prevention and excellent program management skills. He/she has the ability to pull and analyze data with ease, drive process improvements, standardize our processes and eliminate the root cause of defects within the current systems. This job will require exceptional communication skills while having the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment.

Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Continual, tactical communication with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers ( Finance, Tech, Fulfillment Centers)
- Ability to pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL and/or other data management systems) and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed
- Develop Key performance metrics to assist with driving business results.
- Lead initiatives to re-engineer business processes, and identify and eliminate root causes of defects in order to drive efficiency in Amazon’s transportation operations.
- Must be able to quickly understand the business impact of the trends and make decisions that make sense based on available data.
- Must be able to systematically escalate problems or variance in the information and data to the relevant owners and teams and follow through on the resolutions.
- Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs.
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written as you will be required to create a narrative outlining your weekly findings and the variances to goals, and present these finding in a review forum.
- Propose improvements to our existing process and utilize AI tools for enhancing productivity

A day in the life

You lead a shift cluster of frontline team managers who keep Amazon's middle-mile trucking moving in real time. Your day runs on three rhythms that blend from the moment you log in: live operations, people, and mechanisms. You open with a handover from the prior shift and walk the queue of active disruptions — drivers stalled in transit, equipment failures, regulated driving-hour limits, accidents, and safety escalations. When a team manager needs assistance, you will assess the situation the provide the right guidance or escalate further if needed. In between, you coach — 1:1s, floor-walks, and live feedback on speed, quality, and customer handling. The rest of your day belongs to mechanisms. You measure what matters — service-level attainment, resolution time, escalation volume — and own the weekly and monthly business reviews for your scope.

About the team
Driver Support Services (DSS) is a dedicated ROC unit that keeps Amazon's most strategic mile capacity moving — Amazon Freight Partner (AFP) carriers and TOMY drivers. AFP is Amazon's committed-carrier program: contracted partners who operate trucking fleets to Amazon's safety, sustainability, and delivery standards, providing capacity that protects the network from rate volatility and scales with our growth. TOMY drivers are Amazon associates within Transportation Operations Management running shorter- transit legs where DSS acts as their dispatch. We are a white-glove dispatch and disruption-resolution team operating 24x7 across three shift bands.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field
- 3+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Knowledge of at least one data-focused technology tool, such as Python, SQL, Alteryx, Amazon QuickSight, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
- 3+ years in full-time industry or military work, or experience working for Amazon or any Amazon subsidiary or affiliate
