About Holtara
Holtara helps investors, fund managers and companies understand and improve their sustainability performance. We combine technology, high-quality sustainability data and expert advice to solve complex challenges across the private markets.
At the centre of our offering is Holtara.io, our sustainability data and insights platform. It enables clients to collect and validate ESG data, calculate carbon footprints, monitor performance, benchmark portfolios and produce decision-ready analysis and reporting. Our technology is supported by specialists across sustainability, data, product and advisory, allowing us to offer more than a standalone software solution.
Our mission is to positively impact business today, for a sustainable tomorrow. We are now looking for a UX/UI Designer who can help us make complex sustainability information simpler, clearer and more engaging across our software, digital presence and client-facing work.
The role
As our UX/UI Designer, you will play a central role in shaping how people experience Holtara.
Your primary focus will be Holtara.io, our B2B software, where you will work with Product Managers, developers, data specialists, sustainability experts and users to research, design and improve the platform’s core journeys. You will help turn complex workflows, datasets and reporting requirements into experiences that are intuitive, efficient and visually clear.
This is broader than a traditional software product design role. You will also have opportunities to influence the Holtara website, marketing materials, sales collateral, reports, dashboards, presentations and other advisory outputs. We are looking for someone who enjoys creating consistency across different touchpoints and can apply strong design thinking to both interactive products and high-quality visual communication.
User research will be a particularly important part of the role. We want to strengthen how we understand our users, test assumptions and use evidence to make design decisions. You will help establish a more consistent research practice across Holtara and ensure that the voices of clients and internal users shape what we build.
What you will do
Product and experience design
- Design clear, intuitive and accessible experiences for Holtara.io, from early concepts and user flows through to polished interfaces and implementation.
- At least 5 years of related experience
- Translate complex sustainability, regulatory and data requirements into simple and understandable user journeys.
- Create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs that enable teams to explore ideas, test solutions and communicate requirements.
- Work closely with Product Managers and developers throughout discovery, design, delivery and iteration.
- Contribute to and evolve the Holtara.io design system, improving consistency, scalability and quality across the platform.
- Review implemented designs and collaborate with developers to ensure that the final experience reflects the intended interaction and visual design.
- Use product analytics, user feedback and research findings to identify usability issues and opportunities for improvement.
User research
- Plan and conduct interviews, usability testing, workshops and other qualitative research with clients, prospective users and internal teams.
- Analyse research findings, behavioural data and product usage information to identify patterns, needs and areas of friction.
- Turn research into practical outputs such as user needs, journey maps, research summaries, opportunity areas and design recommendations.
- Help teams distinguish between assumptions, opinions and evidence when making product decisions.
- Build repeatable approaches for recruiting participants, recording insights, sharing findings and maintaining a useful research repository.
- Communicate findings clearly to Product, Engineering, Advisory, Data and senior stakeholders.
- Advocate for users while balancing their needs with commercial priorities, technical constraints and Holtara’s product strategy.
Brand and visual communication
- Support the design and continuous improvement of the Holtara website and other digital experiences.
- Create or refine marketing and business-development materials, including campaign assets, presentations, propositions and product communications.
- Work with our Advisory teams to improve the presentation of reports, dashboards, frameworks and client-facing deliverables.
- Help translate complex data and sustainability insights into visual stories that are credible, engaging and easy to understand.
- Promote consistency across the Holtara brand while adapting the design approach to different audiences and formats.
What we are looking for
- Strong professional experience in UX, UI or product design, supported by a portfolio that demonstrates your process and the impact of your work.
- Practical experience conducting user research, particularly interviews and usability testing.
- The ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative information and turn it into clear design decisions.
- Experience designing complex B2B software, data products, enterprise platforms or configurable workflows.
- Strong interaction design, information architecture and visual design skills.
- Confidence producing user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity interfaces.
- Experience working with design systems and creating reusable components and patterns.
- Proficiency with Figma or an equivalent modern design and prototyping tool and AI.
- The ability to communicate design rationale clearly and constructively to technical and non-technical colleagues.
- A collaborative, pragmatic approach and the confidence to challenge assumptions when evidence points in a different direction.
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the wider user journey or business problem.
- The ability to manage work across different formats, from software interfaces to websites, reports and presentation materials.
- Excellent written and verbal English.
It would be beneficial if you also have
- Experience with data visualisation, dashboards or analytical products.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
- Experience working with websites, content management systems or digital marketing teams.
- An interest in sustainability, ESG, private markets or financial services.
- Experience designing reports, thought leadership or client-facing consultancy outputs.
- Familiarity with product analytics and methods for combining behavioural data with qualitative research.
- An interest in emerging design and prototyping tools, including responsible uses of AI.
You do not need to be a sustainability expert when you join. Curiosity, an ability to learn and an interest in using design to make complex subjects more accessible will be more important.
What success will look like
You will help Holtara develop a deeper and more evidence-based understanding of its users. Research will become a visible part of product decisions, key journeys in Holtara.io will become simpler and more consistent, and our design system will continue to mature.
Beyond the platform, your work will help create a more coherent Holtara experience across our website, marketing communications and advisory outputs. The result should be design that is not only visually strong, but genuinely useful: helping users understand information, complete tasks and make better sustainability decisions.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to shape a growing product and design practice while working on meaningful, complex problems. You will have influence across the full design process, from discovering user needs to seeing solutions implemented and used.
You will work with colleagues across Product, Engineering, Data, Sustainability, Advisory and Marketing, giving you exposure to a wide variety of challenges and perspectives. Most importantly, you will use design to help make sustainability data and insights more accessible, useful and actionable.
