This position offers a hands-on engineering opportunity with direct impact on production quality, labor optimization, automation, and regulatory compliance in an FDA-regulated setting.
Responsibilities
- Support daily manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Respond to equipment and process issues on the manufacturing floor, including troubleshooting and repairing production machinery such as CNC, lathe, and grinding machines.
- Perform thorough root cause failure analysis when manufacturing issues arise and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on labor optimization, product quality enhancement, cost reduction, and automation opportunities.
- Improve and optimize manufacturing processes using statistical process control and other data-driven methodologies.
- Partner closely with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to investigate manufacturing problems and drive cross-functional solutions.
- Support and maintain compliance with FDA-regulated quality systems and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Participate in risk management activities related to manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Contribute to design verification and validation efforts for manufacturing processes, fixtures, and equipment.
- Support MRB (Material Review Board) activities, including evaluation and disposition of nonconforming materials and products.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining preventive maintenance programs for production equipment.
- Promote and support environmental health and safety initiatives within the manufacturing facility.
- Create, update, and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process documentation, and related technical records.
- Collaborate with production personnel on the plant floor to understand processes, identify issues, and implement practical improvements.
- Use CAD tools, and ideally SolidWorks, to design fixtures and other tooling as needed to support manufacturing.
- Ensure production quotas and deliverables are met by proactively monitoring performance and addressing issues before they impact output.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with engineering, quality, and operations teams to coordinate activities and share findings.
- Participate in occasional travel, up to approximately 5%, for training and potential client-related activities.

- Experience with CAD tools to design fixtures and manufacturing tooling.
- Ideally, familiarity with SolidWorks (preferred but not required).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with personnel on the plant floor and across functions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences manufacturing environments.
- Hands-on experience with CNC, lathe, and grinding machines in a production setting.
- Experience working within FDA-regulated quality systems.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies and automation projects.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving Operations, Quality, and Engineering.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Interest in developing and owning quality and manufacturing standards at a growing facility.
Work Environment
This role is based in a medical device manufacturing facility with approximately 40 employees, offering the feel of a smaller, close-knit operation within a larger organization. You will have an office on-site but will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor, working directly with production personnel to understand processes and drive improvements. The environment is hands-on, with regular interaction with production equipment such as CNC, lathe, and grinding machines. Core hours are typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with some flexibility in start and end times as long as you are present for the majority of core hours. The typical workweek is about 40–45 hours. After several months of on-site training and integration, a limited hybrid schedule may be possible. Occasional travel of up to about 5% may be required for training or client-related activities.
