Information about the position

Vinted backend engineers work in Product Engineering teams. These teams have all the main competencies that are needed to ship new features to our members without outside help (cross-functional). Teams have mobile platform engineers (iOS, Android), web engineers, and multiple backend engineers. Backend engineers implement business logic and write APIs that our mobile and web platforms can use. They are also responsible for growing our backend platform to handle a wider scale.

Our Revenue domain focuses on acting as a one-stop shop for all pricing and revenue decisions at Vinted marketplace, responsible for delivering user experiences, capabilities, and tooling related to pricing and revenue.

Your main objective will be to shape our product to overcome future challenges while advancing Vinted's vision of making second-hand the first choice. Focusing on perfecting the pricing and discounts experience in our Pricing Product team, you'll strive to guarantee our platform in general and pricing in particular continually exceeds user expectations, offering maximum value and satisfaction. Join us in crafting solutions that deeply resonate with our members, igniting positive change, and fostering lasting loyalty.

In this position, you’ll

- Help build and take ownership of a mission-critical service.

- Work with a newly developed and extracted service in Go; Go experience is preferred but not required.

- Collaborate with the team to enhance our members' experiences, primarily focusing on pricing and discounts.

- Gain opportunities to contribute to the development of new services and drive significant changes.

- Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work.

- Collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews.

- See your code affect 85 million users almost instantly. Our main branch gets rolled out straight to production on each merge.

- Break down large monoliths into smaller, manageable components and services.

- Monitor your deployed code through Kibana, Grafana, and Datadog.

- Own SLIs/SLOs in the product team.

- Effectively partner across teams to prioritize and deliver results.

- Provide direct and impactful feedback in team and larger functions and seek out feedback from other team members to grow.

- Participate in on-call rotation every 6 - 7 weeks.

- Work with continuously tested and deployed applications by adding more tests and more features.

About you

- You can bring your experience in designing and implementing RESTful services, event-driven systems, and external integrations. We're looking for candidates who can architect robust APIs that deliver seamless experiences to our users.

- Dive into the world of Go and leverage its power to build scalable and efficient backend systems. Whether you're a seasoned Go developer or eager to deepen your expertise, we welcome your passion for this versatile language.

- You should be willing to learn and master new technologies and concepts.

- Not afraid of Ruby (yes - we do need to read/fix/refactor it sometimes).

- You're not just content with the status quo – you're driven to elevate it. If you spot an opportunity for improvement, you don't hesitate to champion your ideas and drive meaningful change within the team.

- You are familiar with the following disciplines: Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, Systems Architecture, Service-Oriented Architecture, and Event-driven architecture.

- You understand enterprise architecture patterns, (micro)services, and their pros/cons.

- You are a great team player and can engage in constructive, healthy conflict, expressing your views openly while maintaining respect and professionalism toward colleagues.

Working at Vinted

Workation policy

Better balance holidays with workdays by working remotely! Up to 90 days per year in the EU, of these, 21 days can be spent globally. For non-EU citizens, it's 21 days worldwide. This can be combined with time off for vacation or personal time.

Individual learning budget

Each year, you’ll be given a learning budget (starting at €3,000), and a total of up to 10 working days over a 2-year period to support your personal and professional development.
