About Us:

Good Business Lab  (GBL) is a research-to-action nonprofit that advances access to high-quality jobs for low-income workers. The founders of the Lab are Achyuta Adhvaryu - Professor of Economics and Director of 21st Century India Center at the School of Global Policy and Strategy, UC San Diego ( www.achadhvaryu.com ), Anant Ahuja - Head of ESG and Sustainability  at Shahi Exports Pvt. Ltd., and Anant Nyshadham - Assistant Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan ( www.anantnyshadham.com ).

About the role

Good Business Lab, together with researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, is testing a lay counsellor delivered psychological intervention for harmful alcohol use in factory settings. The intervention was developed and tested by Sangath in primary health centres, and we are now testing how well it works in other settings. In line with our goals, we want to understand whether it can improve worker well-being and deliver business impacts at the same time.

The Clinical Associate will support the delivery of this intervention. You will study the intervention manual closely, with the opportunity to engage with Sangath on any outstanding questions, and provide clinical supervision to the trained lay counsellors as they deliver it. You will also share observations from the field on how the intervention is being implemented, and work with the Research Manager and PI on any additional support or training the counsellors need.

Location: Bangalore (1-2 days to the intervention site)

Compensation: 30k per month

Duration: 2 months

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Study the intervention manual closely and engage with Sangath to address any outstanding questions.

- Provide clinical supervision to the trained lay counsellors as they deliver the intervention.

- Run individual and group supervision sessions to discuss cases, work through challenges, and consider the need for escalation in case of safeguarding concerns.

- Share key observations on how the intervention is being implemented on the ground.

- Work with the Research Manager and PI to identify any additional support or training the counsellors need to deliver the intervention at a high quality.

- Work closely with the Field Associate to schedule and implement supervision and training sessions.

- Travel to the intervention site 1 to 2 days a week for supervision.

Who are you?

- Master's degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health, or a related clinical field.

- 1+ year of clinical experience, including providing counselling.

- Experience in risk assessment and safety planning.

- Ability to converse in English.

- Ability to understand and communicate in Hindi and Kannada.
