Risk Management – JPM Suisse DIFC branch Coverage - Executive Director

As an Executive Director, Risk Management at JP Morgan within the Europe, Middle East and Africa Risk team, you will serve as the senior risk partner for Middle East, North Africa and Turkey-related activities conducted within the Switzerland legal entity and its Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) branch. You will provide independent challenge as a second line of defense across private banking and wealth management activities, partnering closely with stakeholders across Business, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Audit while supporting strong regulatory compliance and governance outcomes.

Job responsibilities

- Provide senior, independent second line of defense oversight for DIFC branch activities coverage, delivering constructive challenge on governance, policies, limits, controls, and risk decisions
- Coordinate and contribute to legal entity risk governance forums, including preparing materials, escalating issues, and tracking decisions and actions to clear outcomes
- Maintain a strong working understanding of regulatory expectations relevant to the Switzerland legal entity and Dubai International Financial Centre cross-border considerations
- Lead analysis and preparation of accurate, consistent responses to regulator inquiries and internal governance requests, ensuring appropriate stakeholder alignment
- Advise on new initiatives, products, and distribution strategies by identifying key risks (including suitability, market, interest rate, fiduciary, environmental/social/governance, reputational, and operational risks) and required controls
- Translate risk assessments into clear requirements, practical mitigation plans, and decision-ready recommendations that enable responsible business growth
- Contribute to the enhancement and effective implementation of risk frameworks, policies, procedures, and governance standards
- Identify emerging risks and trends and recommend monitoring approaches, escalation triggers, and control enhancements

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

- Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant risk management experience or equivalent practical achievement
- Significant experience in financial services risk management, ideally in private banking or wealth management
- Demonstrated experience providing independent challenge in a second line of defense role and supporting legal entity governance
- Direct professional experience covering UAE based activities
- Strong expertise in risks associated with investment offerings, including suitability, market risk, interest rate risk, fiduciary risk, and environmental/social/governance risk considerations
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex topics, distil key messages, and drive practical outcomes under time pressure
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively in cross-functional, multi-jurisdiction environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing decision materials for senior governance and committees
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; comfort using artificial intelligence tools to improve productivity and quality

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline
- Strong knowledge of Dubai International Financial Centre regulations applicable to cross-border client activity and booking considerations
- Experience supporting regulatory engagement and legal entity governance forums
- Experience advising on new products, business initiatives, and operating model developments in a regulated financial services environment
- Arabic or another language relevant to the Middle East region
