About this role
Summary: The Janitor performs assigned/scheduled janitorial and cleaning work. He/she is responsible for maintaining premises and assigned work areas and ensures they are kept in a clean and orderly condition.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
- Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Strips, seals, and polishes floors.
- Cleans spills and other hazards using sponges and squeegees.
- Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures.
- Cleans warehouse bathrooms and stocks them with soap, toilet paper, and other required supplies.
- Cleans windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
- Dusts walls, machines and equipment.
- Removes cobwebs from warehouse bathrooms and changing rooms ceilings.
- May operate power cleaning tools (i.e. floor scrubber, buffers).
- Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Effectively completes all other activities as delegated by the supervising authorities.
Skills and Specifications
- Follows quality control standards, safety regulations and standard operational methods.
- Flexible and willing to work hours and days based on the demands of the job (e.g. early mornings, evenings and weekend days).
- Should be detailed oriented, reliable and able to handle stressful situations.
- Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry 50 pounds.
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods.
- This role will require bending, stooping, twisting and some overhead lifting of various weights.
- This role requires repetitive motion of the hands, fingers, and wrists.
- Ability to work within Company Policies.
- Effectively completes all other activities as delegated by the supervising authorities.
Required Qualifications
- At least High school graduate and a minimum of 1-year related experience.
