About the team: -

Finance Digital Enablement exists to reimagine how Finance operates by combining process excellence, digital technologies, AI, automation, and data to build a simpler, smarter, and more scalable Finance organization.

The AI and Automation team serves as a horizontal capability supporting Finance Global Process Owners and Business Owners across Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, and other Finance domains. The team identifies high-value opportunities, designs intelligent business capabilities, manages the Finance AI and automation portfolio, establishes governance, and partners with IT to deliver secure, scalable, supportable, and measurable solutions.

About the role: -

Reporting to the VP Finance Digital Enablement, the role partners with Finance Global Process Owners, Business Owners, and IT to identify transformation opportunities, redesign processes, define functional requirements, and select the best combination of agentic AI, generative AI, machine learning, RPA, workflow, rules-based automation, document intelligence, analytics, process redesign, or hybrid approaches. It leads major workstreams from identification through adoption and value realization, combining Finance and Accounting knowledge with AI and automation expertise, portfolio leadership, and the ability to turn emerging technology into scalable business capability.

How you will make an impact: -

Execute the Finance AI and Automation Strategy

- Translate the multi-year Finance AI and automation strategy into actionable roadmaps, programs, and workstreams.

- Help evolve Finance from primarily citizen-led enablement toward a balanced delivery model that includes self-service productivity use cases, guided solutions, and centrally built, process- and system-embedded capabilities. Ensure initiatives align with Finance priorities, enterprise AI standards, approved platforms, control requirements, and UKG’s broader technology strategy.

Lead the Finance AI and Automation Portfolio

- Manage a portfolio of AI and automation opportunities across multiple Finance domains, including Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Tax, Treasury, and other functions.

- Establish disciplined practices for demand intake, opportunity assessment, prioritization, sequencing, business-case development, delivery tracking, risk management, and value realization. Partner with Global Process Owners and Business Owners to evaluate strategic alignment, business value, process impact, control considerations, adoption requirements, and readiness, while collaborating with the IT AI team to assess technical feasibility, architecture implications, delivery complexity, support needs, and opportunities for reuse.

Partner with Finance Global Process Owners

- Work closely with the RTR, PTP, OTC, and future Global Process Owners to translate process roadmaps into prioritized AI and automation opportunities.

- Facilitate process-discovery and future-state-design sessions, challenge existing ways of working, identify opportunities to eliminate manual effort, improve controls, strengthen user experience, and create more intelligent end-to-end processes. Identify common patterns and capabilities that can be reused across Finance instead of creating isolated point solutions.

- Lead Functional Solution Design

Lead functional solution design

- In collaboration with Finance stakeholders and the IT AI team, determine whether the most effective solution should use agentic AI, generative AI, machine learning, RPA, workflow, rules-based automation, document processing, analytics, process redesign, or a hybrid approach. Define user journeys, business rules, decision points, human-in-the-loop controls, exception handling, data requirements, success measures, and adoption needs.

Advance Agentic and Embedded Finance Solutions

- Lead the Finance functional design and implementation of centrally developed, process-embedded, and agentic solutions.

- Help define agent roles, task orchestration, system interactions, decision logic, human oversight, escalation paths, exception management, monitoring, and ongoing business ownership. Partner with IT to move high-value concepts from experimentation into governed production solutions that are secure, supportable, and embedded into Finance operating processes.

Expand Automation Beyond AI

- Apply the right technology to the problem rather than defaulting to AI. Evaluate RPA, workflow, APIs, machine learning, document processing, rules engines, process mining, and other automation options, including hybrid designs that improve control, reliability, scalability, and economics.

Strengthen Governance and Responsible AI

- Implement Finance AI and automation governance aligned with UKG’s enterprise standards for AI, security, data, privacy, legal, risk, and internal controls.

- Apply clear criteria for citizen-led, guided, and centrally built solutions. Ensure financially significant, higher-risk, or process-embedded use cases receive appropriate business review, technical assessment, testing, control design, documentation, approval, monitoring, and support. Help create a governance model that enables innovation without compromising control, security, auditability, or long-term supportability.

Drive Adoption and Business Readiness

- Partner with Business Owners and Transformation Delivery & Enablement to ensure AI and automation initiatives are successfully adopted and embedded into day-to-day Finance operations.

- Define role changes, process impacts, training requirements, communications, readiness criteria, adoption measures, and operating procedures required to sustain new capabilities. Ensure implementation success is measured not only by technical deployment, but by actual usage, process improvement, and business outcomes.

Lead Value Realization

- Establish clear business cases, baselines, and performance measures for AI and automation investments.

- Track outcomes such as hours saved, cycle-time reduction, improved accuracy, lower exception volumes, control effectiveness, employee experience, adoption, scalability, and financial value. Partner with Business Owners, GPOs, and IT to evaluate solution performance and identify opportunities to improve, expand, or retire capabilities based on realized value.

Lead and Develop the Team

- Lead and develop a team of AI, automation, process-design, and transformation professionals.

- Set clear priorities, coach team members, review solution designs, and foster a culture that balances innovation and experimentation with governance, accountability, customer focus, and disciplined delivery. Build team capability in Finance transformation, agentic process design, automation discovery, functional architecture, portfolio management, change leadership, and value realization.

Success Measures:-

Success will be measured by the effective execution of the Finance AI and automation strategy and the delivery of measurable outcomes across multiple Finance domains.

- Health and quality of the AI and automation portfolio.

- Number and impact of governed, process-embedded solutions deployed.

- Adoption and sustained usage of delivered capabilities.

- Productivity, cycle-time, quality, and control improvements.

- Build a prioritized pipeline of high-value opportunities with the RTR, PTP, and OTC Global Process Owners.

- Lead multiple centrally built AI or automation use cases from discovery through implementation, adoption, and measurable value realization.

- Advance several process-embedded or agentic use cases that demonstrate how Finance can move beyond standalone productivity tools toward more intelligent end-to-end processes.

- Establish consistent functional-design standards for AI and automation, including human-in-the-loop controls, exception handling, governance, monitoring, and business ownership.

- Improve coordination and ways of working across Finance Digital Enablement, Business Owners, Global Process Owners, the IT AI team, and Transformation Delivery & Enablement.

- Implement clear portfolio reporting that provides transparency into priorities, delivery progress, risks, adoption, technical dependencies, and expected value.

- Develop reusable Finance AI and automation patterns that reduce time to design and accelerate future use-case delivery.

- Demonstrate practical application of technologies beyond AI, including RPA, workflow, machine learning, document intelligence, and hybrid automation approaches.

- Strengthen Finance AI governance so that citizen-led innovation can continue while higher-risk or enterprise use cases transition into controlled and supported delivery models.

- Build and develop a high-performing team capable of supporting agentic, AI-enabled, and traditional automation initiatives.

- Establish credibility as a trusted advisor to Global Process Owners, Business Owners, and IT leaders on how emerging technologies can practically transform Finance and Accounting.
