Fire Safety Director

Position Summary

The Fedcap Group is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Director (FLSD) to support fire, medical, and non-fire emergency preparedness and response at 271 Cadman Plaza East in Brooklyn. This on-site role is responsible for maintaining life-safety readiness, supporting FDNY and building-plan compliance, coordinating required drills and training, maintaining inspection-ready documentation, and providing calm, clear direction during emergencies.

What You’ll Do

- Maintain compliance with applicable FDNY requirements, required certifications, records, and the building emergency plan.
- Maintain readiness for fire, medical, and non-fire emergencies and carry out required procedures promptly and correctly.
- Support Fire Command Center and fire alarm control panel readiness and operations.
- Provide clear emergency instructions to occupants and coordinate with FDNY and other first responders.
- Conduct, coordinate, and document required fire/life-safety drills and staff training.
- Maintain accurate FLSD logs, emergency documentation, staffing records, and other inspection-ready records.
- Identify and escalate critical life-safety deficiencies and follow assigned corrective actions through closure.
- Help ensure required FLSD/Deputy FLSD coverage and that designated life-safety personnel are prepared.

You’re a Great Fit If You Have

- A current, applicable FDNY Fire & Life Safety Director Certificate of Fitness and the ability to satisfy building-specific qualification requirements for the assigned premises.
- Required FLSD fire safety, EAP, and medical-emergency training/examination credentials.
- Working knowledge of Fire Command Center/FACP operations, emergency procedures, evacuation modes, fire protection systems, and building life-safety measures.
- The ability to remain composed in emergencies and communicate clear, concise instructions.
- Strong documentation, organization, inspection-readiness, and follow-through skills.
- The ability to work on-site in Brooklyn and meet the building’s required FLSD coverage schedule.

Schedule & Compensation

The materials provided for this recruitment identify a full-time schedule of Tuesday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., at $41.29 per hour. Final schedule and employment details should be confirmed before posting.
