Summary: Blood Cancer United is a mission centric, locally delivered and nationally powered organization, relentlessly pursuing cancer cures. To help achieve this mission, the Vice President Light the Night serves as an innovative and visionary leader crafting the strategic plan to deploy national high impact peer to peer fundraising initiatives to a dynamic field salesforce for execution to achieve revenue targets for Blood Cancer Uniteds mission.

Vision, Strategy & Enterprise Leadership
Shape the Future of Light The Night
The Vice President, Light the Night serves as the visionary leader responsible for defining and executing the long-term strategy for one of the organization's most important revenue-generating and brand positioning community campaigns. This leader will inspire the organization around a bold growth agenda, positioning Light the Night to expand from a $60 million campaign today to a $100 million+ campaign in the years ahead.
The successful candidate will combine strategic vision, innovative thinking, strong business acumen, and influential leadership to identify new opportunities for growth, challenge conventional approaches, and mobilize teams around ambitious goals that accelerate mission impact. The Vice President Light the Night will have 10 direct reports
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and lead a comprehensive multi-year growth strategy designed to transform Light the Night into a $100 million+ fundraising platform.
- Establish a compelling vision for the future of the campaign, inspiring staff and volunteers to think beyond today's results and embrace the opportunities of tomorrow.
- Serve as the organization's leading voice and subject matter expert for Light the Night, influencing strategy, priorities, and investments across the enterprise.
- Identify internal and external competitive landscape and emerging trends, market opportunities, participant behaviors, and fundraising innovations that can accelerate growth and strengthen long-term campaign sustainability.
- Partner with regional and national leaders to translate enterprise strategy into actionable plans that drive measurable revenue, participant, and community engagement growth.
- Foster a culture of strategic planning and disciplined execution by ensuring goals, investments, and resources are aligned with long-term growth objectives.
- Lead the development of new growth initiatives, pilot programs, and innovative fundraising strategies that expand market penetration and increase campaign performance.
- Use data, analytics, and market intelligence to evaluate opportunities, prioritize investments, and guide decision-making at both the national and regional levels.
- Build alignment and enthusiasm among senior leaders, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders around a shared vision for transformational campaign growth.
- Champion a mindset of continuous improvement, encouraging teams to challenge assumptions, embrace innovation, and pursue breakthrough results.

Leadership & Team Development
Build, Lead, and Inspire a High-Performing Team
The Vice President, Light the Night is responsible for building, developing, and leading a best-in-class team of Directors of Campaign Excellence (DCEs) who serve as trusted advisors, guides and strategists, to regional leadership teams across the organization.
This leader will create a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, ensuring DCEs are equipped to help regions think bigger, plan strategically, execute effectively, and achieve ambitious revenue growth goals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing team of DCEs with a strong focus on leadership development, strategic thinking, and execution excellence.
- Establish clear performance expectations and foster a culture that celebrates results, embraces innovation, and continuously elevates campaign performance.
- Position DCEs as indispensable strategic partners to regional campaign leaders, helping teams assess opportunities, identify growth strategies, and create actionable plans to accelerate revenue and participant growth.
- Empower DCEs to challenge conventional thinking, inspire bold goal setting, and help regions envision larger possibilities for campaign expansion and community impact.
- Lead the team in identifying barriers to success and developing solutions that help regions overcome obstacles, capitalize on opportunities, and achieve breakthrough results.
- Ensure DCEs provide consultative support grounded in data, market insights, and fundraising best practices to strengthen decision-making and improve campaign outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative environment where best practices, innovative ideas, and successful strategies are shared across regions to drive enterprise-wide growth.
- Partner closely with regional and national leaders to ensure alignment between organizational priorities, campaign strategy, and execution.
- Ensure DCEs serve as high impact coaches who model and train staff on initiative best practices and strategies
- Build a DCE team that effectively collaborates with Region Leadership to evaluate staff performance and hire talented high impact revenue teams
Success in this role will be measured not only by campaign performance, but by the Vice President's ability to build a high-performing team of strategists who elevate the capabilities of regional staff, inspire confidence, unlock growth opportunities, and help teams achieve goals they once believed were out of reach.
Mission Integration:
- Partner with Education Services and Health Research department to effectively communicate Blood Cancer Uniteds overall mission, programs, resources and priorities.
- Responsible for ensuring all initiatives deliver mission centered, high impact activities.
Financial Oversight and Accountability:
- Ensure overall revenue and P&L for assigned fundraising initiatives are achieved
- Develop and maintain accurate financial forecasts and ensure accountability for budget performance
- Evaluate and effectively project revenue stream KPIs
- Develop revenue models that support three to five years of sustained growth
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Blood Cancer United mission and programs to promote Organizational initiatives
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; masters degree in business or Non-Profit Management preferred
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience.
- Demonstrated track record of success in Community Initiatives or similar P2P fundraising campaigns
- Experience leading enterprise initiatives and organizational change.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Professional office or remote work environment with domestic travel as needed
- Physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations
- Travel up to 50%
- Required to work some evenings or weekends

We are excited to share the base pay range for this position is $136K to $209K. The offered compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Blood Cancer United we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the current compensation of similarly situated roles and direct team members. Base compensation is only one component of our Total Rewards program, which also includes an annual incentive plan and a competitive benefits package.
