Commercial QA/QC Specialist – San Antonio, TX (CPS Energy Program)

About the Role

We're seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized, and mechanically inclined Commercial QA/QC Specialist to support the CPS Energy Commercial Energy Efficiency Program in San Antonio, Texas. This position serves as a local field representative responsible for performing comprehensive quality assurance and quality control inspections on commercial energy efficiency projects, ensuring installed measures meet program requirements, technical specifications, and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, possesses strong mechanical aptitude, demonstrates exceptional integrity, and takes a thorough, consistent approach to inspections and documentation. This role requires an individual who can confidently work independently, communicate effectively with customers and contractors, and provide accurate, detailed observations and reporting.

Projects may include inspections of:

- Commercial lighting upgrades
- HVAC maintenance tune-ups
- Mechanical equipment improvements
- Air infiltration measures
- Cool roof installations
- Building envelope improvements
- Emerging and innovative energy efficiency technologies and measures
- Additional commercial energy efficiency projects as introduced through the program

This position is based in San Antonio, TX . Travel is primarily within the local service territory, though occasional overnight travel may be required .

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct quality assurance inspections and audits of commercial energy efficiency projects.
- Perform pre-installation and post-installation verifications to confirm program compliance and proper implementation.
- Inspect lighting, mechanical, HVAC, building envelope, air infiltration, cool roof, and other energy efficiency measures.
- Evaluate project installations against program standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Document inspection findings accurately, completely, and consistently.
- Maintain detailed notes, records, photographs, and supporting documentation for all inspections.
- Verify field data and project information entered into company databases and reporting platforms.
- Communicate inspection findings, observations, concerns, and recommendations to program staff.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, and trade allies.
- Represent CLEAResult and CPS Energy professionally during all customer interactions.
- Assist with identifying process improvements and opportunities to enhance program quality.
- Support the review and verification of new and emerging energy efficiency measures as program offerings evolve.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications and company software platforms to manage workload, reporting, and project documentation.

Qualifications

- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude required.
- Experience in HVAC, mechanical systems, construction, building performance, energy efficiency, inspections, facilities maintenance, lighting, or related technical fields preferred.
- Commercial HVAC experience is a plus but not required.
- Experience conducting inspections, audits, quality control reviews, or field verification activities preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial lighting systems, controls, and energy efficiency technologies preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a field-based schedule.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Comfortable learning and utilizing business and field-service software platforms.
- Experience with Quickbase, FastField, CRM systems, or other data collection platforms is preferred but not required.
- Training will be provided on company-specific software, processes, and inspection requirements.
- Ability to maintain accurate electronic records and inspection documentation.

Physical Requirements

- Work in varying weather conditions and commercial field environments.
- Safely climb ladders and access equipment up to 24 feet.
- Frequently stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, balance, and reach.
- Access rooftops, mechanical rooms, and other inspection areas as needed.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Utilize electronic devices, tablets, cameras, and other inspection tools throughout the workday.

Driving & Safety

- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record in accordance with company policy.
- This is a safety-sensitive, field-based position requiring work at customer sites and commercial facilities.
- Must successfully pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and motor vehicle record review.
- Ongoing employment is contingent upon maintaining a satisfactory driving record and adherence to company safety standards and policy.

Target Compensation

Target Hiring Range: $50,000 - $55,000

Compensation Range: Competitive and commensurate with experience, qualifications, geographic market, and internal equity considerations.

Bonus Eligibility: 3% Annual Target Bonus
