Summary
Our straight evenings position offers the consistency of 7-8 evening shifts in a 7-on/7-off manner. Shifts may be 10 or11 hours and typically start at 12:30 pm.

The evening pharmacist provides direct pharmaceutical care to adult medical and surgical patients through a consistent evening schedule. This highly collaborative role is decentralized within patient care areas, allowing the pharmacist to work closely with providers, nurses, pharmacy colleagues, and other interdisciplinary team members to optimize medication therapy and support safe, timely, and effective patient care.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include prospective patient profile review, identification and resolution of medication-related problems, clinical consultation for healthcare professionals, and support of patients transitioning through admission, transfer, and other changes in care. The pharmacist also performs medication order verification, evaluates medication therapy for clinical appropriateness, and provides guidance regarding dosing, drug interactions, adverse effects, and medication administration.

The evening pharmacist partners closely with the broader pharmacy team to manage changing patient-care priorities, support operational and distributive needs, and promote continuity of pharmacy services across shifts. This position is well suited for a pharmacist who values interdisciplinary collaboration, enjoys working directly within patient care areas, and thrives in a dynamic clinical environment.

Qualifications

In a medical center or institutional setting: Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy. Must have a thorough knowledge of drugs and their actions; knowledge of state and local regulations. Hospital experience or residency preferred.

Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy. Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency or equivalent experience preferred.

License must be in good standing by the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
