Your role

As a Design Ops Associate, you’ll help create the structure, tools, and processes that enable design teams to do their best work. Rather than creating design deliverables yourself, you’ll focus on improving how design work is planned, coordinated, tracked, and delivered across projects and teams. This role balances operational planning with day-to-day execution, helping designers spend more time solving customer problems and less time navigating process challenges.

You’ll work closely with designers, product teams, engineers, and delivery partners to support the successful execution of design initiatives. Your work will help create visibility into priorities, timelines, dependencies, and outcomes, enabling teams to collaborate more effectively and make informed decisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in design operations, programme coordination, process improvement, and the ways design teams operate within large organisations. You’ll gain exposure to design systems, digital product development, experience design practices, and portfolio management while building valuable operational and consulting skills that can support multiple career paths.

What you will do

Enable effective design delivery

- Support planning activities for design projects, including intake, prioritisation, scheduling, and resource coordination
- Help maintain processes that enable consistent and high-quality delivery across design initiatives
- Track milestones, dependencies, and deliverables to help teams stay aligned and informed
- Prepare reports and updates that provide visibility into project status, priorities, and risks

Coordinate across teams

- Facilitate collaboration between design, product, engineering, and delivery teams
- Support briefing, planning, and review activities for design work
- Ensure stakeholders have access to accurate and timely information about design initiatives
- Help manage communication flows related to project timelines, dependencies, and key decisions

Improve operational effectiveness

- Identify gaps, bottlenecks, or inefficiencies in the design workflow
- Document and maintain processes, templates, tools, and operational guidelines
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that simplify how design work is managed and delivered
- Contribute ideas that improve team effectiveness, consistency, and visibility

Support portfolio oversight

- Track work across multiple projects, programmes, or design initiatives
- Maintain information that helps teams understand workload, capacity, and priorities
- Assist with forecasting, planning, and operational reporting activities
- Monitor progress against agreed objectives and highlight potential risks or constraints

Learn and grow

- Build knowledge of DesignOps, experience design, and digital product development practices
- Learn how design teams collaborate within large-scale customer environments
- Develop skills in programme coordination, process improvement, stakeholder management, and operational planning
- Gain hands-on experience using planning, collaboration, and workflow management tools

Required skills and experience

- Demonstrated experience coordinating projects, programs, workflows, or operational activities in a design, product, project management, or business operations environment
- Understanding of how design work moves from planning through delivery within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience managing multiple workstreams, priorities, or initiatives simultaneously
- Ability to create, document, and maintain processes, templates, or operational frameworks
- Experience collaborating with teams that have different priorities, responsibilities, and areas of expertise
- Ability to identify operational challenges and recommend practical improvements
- Experience using project management, planning, tracking, or collaboration tools
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accuracy across multiple activities and deadlines

Preferred skills and experience

- Experience supporting design, UX, service design, customer experience, or digital product teams
- Familiarity with portfolio management, resource planning, or capacity tracking practices
- Experience contributing to process improvement or operational transformation initiatives
- Exposure to design systems, design governance, or quality review processes
- Familiarity with AI-enabled productivity, workflow, or collaboration tools

The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is :

$63,360 to $114,120 based on a full-time schedule.

Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience.  For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement.

There is a different applicable compensation range for the following work locations:

California (San Francisco Bay Area):$76,080 to $137,040

California (All Other):$69,720 to $125,640

Colorado: $63,360 to $114,120

Massachusetts $63,360 to $125,640

New York City: $76,080 to $137,040

Washington: $69,720 to $125,640

Washington DC:$69,720 to $125,640

This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans. You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave, and paid time off.  Note: If this is a sales commission eligible role, you will be eligible to participate in a sales commission plan in lieu of the annual discretionary bonus program.
