About this role

The Digital Strategy Specialist combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution across SEO, website management, content strategy, and email marketing. This role works closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop and support digital initiatives, bringing structure to complex challenges while building expertise and judgment over time. This role contributes to organic performance and user experience by conducting keyword and competitive analysis, developing SEO-informed website strategies, and translating insights into actionable direction for content teams, designers, developers, and clients. The Digital Strategy Specialist works at the connective tissue between discovery, strategy, and execution, learning to move between technical analysis and strategic storytelling.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct SEO and digital research to support strategy development
•  Perform keyword research, search intent analysis, and competitive audits using
industry tools to identify digital opportunities.
•  Synthesize research findings, analytics data, and stakeholder input into clear strategic 
recommendations with guidance from leadership.
•  Support technical SEO audits and analysis to identify performance gaps and inform strategic 
recommendations.
•  Participate in discovery discussions with clients and internal teams to understand business 
objectives, user behavior, and competitive positioning.

Support website strategy and optimization efforts

•  Support development of site maps and information architectures based on keyword research, user 
behavior and business objectives.
•  Review website designs and structures against strategy, documenting SEO and user experience 
recommendations for stakeholder alignment.
•  Identify and communicate content optimization opportunities across existing websites, including 
reorganization, updates, and content gaps.
•  Work collaboratively with development and design teams to support implementation of strategic 
recommendations.

Support digital projects and initiatives

•  Contribute to strategy workstreams and projects, supporting planning, organization, and 
execution with leadership guidance.
•  Create SEO-focused content briefs, optimization roadmaps, and site map documentation that help 
teams and clients understand strategy and priorities.
•  Monitor project performance and flag issues, gaps, or decisions needed for leadership review and 
direction.
•  Support healthy engagement delivery through organized work, clear communication, and 
collaboration across teams.

Develop proficiency with digital tools and platforms
•  Build working knowledge of SEO tools (SEMrush, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, Analytics) to 
conduct analysis and support research.
•  Learn to use CMS platforms and email marketing systems, supporting implementation and best 
practice adherence.
•  Develop judgment about which tools and frameworks to apply in different situations; ask for 
guidance when uncertain.
•  Stay current with industry changes, algorithm updates, and emerging trends; bring insights back 
to the team.

Collaborate and communicate effectively with clients and teams
•  Build working relationships with clients through responsiveness, preparation, and clear 
communication of findings and recommendations.
•  Participate in client conversations and presentations; support leadership in communicating 
strategy, managing expectations, and moving work forward.
•  Collaborate with content teams, design, development, and other partners to support execution and 
problem-solving.
•  Bring forward ideas, observations, and insights that strengthen the digital practice; actively 
seek feedback and build expertise over time.

Qualifications
•  Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field; or

equivalent professional experience.
•  1-2 years of professional experience in SEO, digital marketing, website management, or a digital 
agency environment.
•  Growing expertise in SEO strategy, keyword research, on-page optimization, and technical SEO 
fundamentals.
•  Familiarity with one or more SEO and analytics platforms such as SEMrush,
Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Google Search Console or Google Analytics, with an aptitude for quickly 
learning new tools and platforms.

•  Experience with or familiarity with email marketing systems (HubSpot) and strategy.
•  Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills; ability to explain digital concepts 
clearly.
•  Stay current on evolving search behavior, including AI-driven search, generative search 
experiences, algorithm changes and emerging digital discovery trends.
•  Comfort with learning across different clients, categories, and challenges.
•  Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively 
across disciplines.
•  Willingness to ask for guidance, seek feedback, and actively build expertise and strategic depth 
over time.
•  Knowledge of HTML/CSS fundamentals and digital analytics (preferred).
•  Relevant certification (Google Analytics, SEMrush Academy, HubSpot SEO Certification) or 
willingness to pursue.
