Senior Bridge Inspector Team Lead

What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking a Senior Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader   to join our Transportation group in Tampa, FL. This role requires regular attendance at our Tampa, FL office.

What youll be challenged to do:
Our Tampa office has an immediate opening for an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader, with a Certified Bridge Inspector (CBI) license. The successful candidate for this position will be primarily responsible for leading the field inspection and completion of the inspection reports for routine and complex bridges and ancillary structures located throughout Florida. Field assignments may involve travel within the continental United States. No relocation assistance provided.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

- Provide supervisory and office support, including:
- Assign team members in field and office tasks
- Perform scheduling of subconsultants and inspection teams
- Track inspection and report status to ensure timely completion
- Report critical findings from inspection teams to the client
- Respond to requests for information from client
- Manage requests for initial inspections, scheduling project teams for timely completion
- Respond to accident response and emergency inspection requests, identifying teams for prompt inspection
- Perform quality assurance on subconsultant inspection reports and work with the client and subconsultant teams to address comments
- Perform 2 nd level reviews of reports as Reviewing Bridge Inspection Supervisor
- Participate in FDOT Feasible Action Review Committee meetings

- Serve as lead inspector for inspection of bridges and ancillary structures, with duties including but not limited to:
- Review previous inspection reports and information
- Schedule and coordinate field operations with subcontractors
- Perform field inspection of Fixed and Movable Bridges and Ancillary structures.
- Identify critical findings during field inspection
- Document inspection findings including the use of digital photography
- Operate inspection equipment such as bucket trucks, manlift and underbridge inspection vehicles
- Climb ladders, supervise traffic control set-ups and perform other work in support of inspection activities
- Prepare and review inspection reports, evaluations and recommendations

- Other duties may be assigned as needed

Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

- NBIS Bridge Inspection Team Leader Certification.
- 10-15 years of related Bridge Inspection experience.
- Qualifications to be a team leader per the National Bridge Inspection Standards.

- Completion of FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges, with refreshers to maintain current approved status

- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Strong technical writing skills
- Physically capable of performing continuous field work including working at heights, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions, etc.
- Valid Drivers License
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we prefer you bring:

- Successful completion of NHI Training: Bridge Inspection Techniques for Nonredundant Steel Tension Members (NHI 130078), Underwater Bridge Inspection (NHI 130091), and Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures (NHI 130087)
- Experience with FDOTs AASHTOWare BrM software
- Experience working with for FDOT and local transportation agencies

Compensation: The hourly rate range for this role is $50 - $70 per hor. Hourly rate is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
