Job Description
- 50% Processes patient demographic and insurance data for registration in an outpatient clinic; enters information in the hospital computer system; maintains quality control for each appointment in an outpatient setting to insure accuracy of information; acts as liaison between patients, financial counselors and hospital patient accounting and 4 clinical areas; ensures that all state, federal and MUSC policies and procedures are followed.
- 20% Upfront collections for copays, deductibles, and past due balances. Upload medical records into the EMR system.
- 5% Charge capture for outpatient appointments.
- 20% Handling a multiphone line system to take messages for the providers and nursing team.
- 5% Functions within Patient Access in the Ambulatory Department at MUSC.
Additional Job Description
High school diploma or equivalent (GED), with 1 year of customer service experience. Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations preferred. Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.
