As the Director, Social and Content Marketing for Overwatch you will define and drive the global vision for how the franchise connects with players through social, content, and community experiences.. You will lead its Social, Community, Editorial and Creator efforts, drive Overwatch’s overarching Marketing and GTM strategy alongside Brand and Product Marketing partners, and operate as a key leader within Blizzard’s Marketing organization. This role owns the performance and evolution of the social and creator ecosystem, ensuring alignment with Blizzard’s broader marketing and business priorities. You will partner with executive leadership to shape marketing direction and influence business and product decisions through player informed insights. Success requires balancing creative leadership with strong operational execution while navigating a dynamic and fast paced environment.
A successful leader in this role is a creative visionary with the drive to develop best-in-class campaigns and strategies that shape culture, fuel fandom and define brands. We are looking for a seasoned leader, with deep experience across social campaigns, creator programs and audience strategy. They have genuine passion for culture and the platforms and people that can shape it. They have proven success building brands across diverse owned and operated ecosystems, and subsequently activating high-impact campaigns within those platforms. They have a rich Creator experience across always on programs and large scale campaigns and a strong perspective on what great looks like. They are driven and passionate, with a keen sense of what makes an idea great and a willingness to seize opportunity at every turn. Importantly, they understand gaming, and recognise the magic that has kept Overwatch thriving as a community for decades.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Define global S&C vision by establishing and continuously evolving a long term strategy for social, content, and community that drives sustainable franchise growth, engagement, and player connection worldwide.
- Lead multi-functional teams across social, editorial, influencer, and community functions, ensuring alignment, high performance, and clear accountability for outcomes.
- Influence executive stakeholders by presenting strategies, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership to drive decisions that shape franchise marketing priorities and long term growth.
- Drive integrated marketing strategy by partnering with Brand, Product Marketing, Comms, and regional teams to shape and execute cohesive go to market strategies across all social and content channels.
- Own performance and KPIs by establishing measurement frameworks, tracking performance across platforms and campaigns, and applying insights to optimize engagement, audience growth, and overall marketing impact.
- Lead agency and partner ecosystem by overseeing agency and external partner relationships to ensure high quality execution, strategic alignment, and efficient delivery across all marketing initiatives.
- Manage budgets and resources by owning and allocating marketing budgets while prioritizing investments across campaigns, creators, and platforms to maximize return and align with strategic business objectives.
- Lead tentpole campaign strategy by defining and overseeing the development and execution of major franchise marketing moments across social and content channels to drive global engagement and impact.
- Drive live ops excellence by ensuring social, content, and community strategies are fully integrated into live service rhythms to support ongoing player engagement and content performance.
- Strengthen cross franchise collaboration by partnering with social and content leaders across franchises to share insights, scale best practices, and improve operational efficiency and strategic alignment.
- Champion player first insights by leveraging community feedback, behavioral data, and cultural signals to inform content strategies and influence cross functional marketing and product decisions
- Act as a subject matter expert by providing guidance on community, creator, and social strategies and influencing business and product decisions through player informed insights and market understanding.
PLAYER PROFILE
- 12 years experience in social or influencer marketing at an agency or in-house within Gaming, Entertainment or Consumer Tech industries and a minimum or 7 years of direct supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated success building brand-defining social and influencer strategies that cut through culture and create broad fandom.
- Proven success leading high-impact, innovative social and digital campaigns.
- Experience operating within or collaborating with large-scale organizations, driving success across multiple stakeholders and creative or strategic marketing functions.
- Familiarity with the gaming industry and a genuine passion for gaming.
- Experience managing multi-layered reporting structures across multiple disciplines.
- Comfort and capability representing their work and function with senior management and executive leadership.
- Appetite for all things digital, social and influencer -- up to date on the latest platforms and technologies and desire to identify opportunities for strategic brand involvement.
- Deep knowledge of social media platforms, tools, and best practices for content creation, engagement, and community building.
- Ability to think creatively and outside the box, leveraging cultural trends and social moments to make a brand stand out.
- Fluency in both the creative and analytical sides of digital marketing with working knowledge of social platforms and tools such as Sprinklr and native platform analytics tools

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $136,880.00 - $253,260.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
