As a Project Manager III within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Dallas, TX or Pittsburgh, PA.
The Project Manager III is responsible for leading large-scale, complex technology initiatives from initiation through implementation and stabilization. This role serves as the primary point of accountability for project delivery, ensuring alignment between business objectives, technology strategy, and enterprise governance standards.
The Project Manager III drives execution across cross-functional teams including business, technology, product, architecture, quality engineering, operations, and third-party vendors. This individual is responsible for project planning, financial management, risk mitigation, governance, stakeholder engagement, and executive communications while delivering measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate brings experience leading enterprise technology programs, managing complex dependencies, and delivering high-impact initiatives within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Delivery & Execution
○ Lead end-to-end delivery of large, complex technology initiatives and associated workstreams with significant business and technical impact.
○ Develop and maintain integrated project plans, milestones, schedules, delivery roadmaps, and release timelines.
○ Align project objectives, deliverables, and execution strategies with enterprise priorities, technology roadmaps, and business goals.
○ Coordinate execution across business, product, technology, architecture, quality engineering, operations, and vendor teams.
○ Drive accountability across cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
○ Monitor project progress, identify delivery risks, and implement mitigation strategies to address issues and dependencies.
○ Manage scope, schedule, resources, and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
○ Lead implementation readiness activities, transition-to-support planning, and post-production stabilization efforts.
• Financial & Resource Management
○ Own project financials, including budget development, forecasting, actuals management, variance analysis, and reconciliation activities.
○ Track labor and non-labor expenditures while maintaining transparency and accountability for project spend.
○ Identify financial risks and implement corrective actions to ensure adherence to approved budgets.
○ Support annual planning processes, investment governance reviews, business case development, and funding approvals.
○ Communicate financial performance, budget health, risks, and opportunities to leadership and key stakeholders.
○ Monitor benefit realization and support measurement of financial and operational outcomes.
• Executive Communications & Stakeholder Management
○ Prepare and deliver executive-level project status reports, dashboards, milestone updates, and strategic communications.
○ Develop governance and leadership review materials, including CIO and senior executive reporting.
○ Communicate project progress, achievements, risks, dependencies, and business outcomes to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
○ Present recommendations, decision-support materials, and project health assessments to leadership teams.
○ Translate technical information into meaningful business impacts and strategic value.
○ Build strong relationships across business and technology organizations to drive alignment and decision-making.
• Risk, Issue & Vendor Management
○ Manage project risks, assumptions, issues, decisions, and dependency tracking throughout execution.
○ Develop and execute remediation plans for schedule, scope, cost, resource, and delivery challenges.
○ Identify and escalate enterprise-level risks and dependencies that may impact project success.
○ Partner with vendors and sourcing teams to support contract management, statement of work oversight, invoice forecasting, and delivery performance.
○ Drive issue resolution through proactive stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
○ Assess organizational impacts and ensure appropriate mitigation and change management strategies are implemented.
• Governance, Compliance & Change Management
○ Ensure projects adhere to TPMO methodology, governance requirements, enterprise standards, and delivery frameworks.
○ Support quality reviews, release governance, audit readiness, regulatory requirements, and quarterly compliance activities.
○ Facilitate project governance forums, executive checkpoints, and health assessments.
○ Maintain project documentation, controls, artifacts, and reporting within approved systems of record.
○ Partner with change management teams to support stakeholder readiness, communication planning, training, and adoption activities.
○ Ensure compliance with risk, regulatory, operational, and enterprise requirements throughout project execution.
• Metrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
○ Monitor delivery performance through Agile, quality engineering, release, financial, and operational metrics.
○ Measure business outcomes and benefit realization against approved objectives and success criteria.
○ Analyze forecasts, trends, delivery indicators, and performance data to support leadership decision-making.
○ Track commitments versus actual results and communicate project health to stakeholders and executives.
○ Facilitate lessons learned and promote best practices across project teams and the broader TPMO organization.
○ Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance delivery effectiveness, governance maturity, and project outcomes.
• Leadership & Team Collaboration
○ Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to project team members, delivery partners, and stakeholders.
○ Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, transparency, and execution excellence.
○ Influence cross-functional leaders to drive prioritization, alignment, and timely decision-making.
○ Serve as a trusted advisor to business and technology leadership on strategic initiatives and delivery planning.
○ Mentor junior project managers and contribute to the advancement of project management best practices across the organization.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
• Project management experience leading large-scale technology initiatives.
• Proven track record delivering complex technology, infrastructure, digital transformation, or enterprise modernization programs.
• Strong financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, variance tracking, and benefit realization.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple workstreams, dependencies, and cross-functional delivery teams.
• Strong organizational leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
• Experience managing enterprise-level risks, issues, vendors, contracts, and organizational change initiatives.
• Excellent verbal, written, and executive-level communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple initiatives simultaneously in a highly matrixed environment.
• Experience utilizing Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
• Experience within financial services, banking, payments, corporate banking, or a Technology PMO environment preferred.

Job Description
- Manages the most complex projects from original concept through final implementation and post-project assessment. Accountable for meeting project objectives within established timeframes. May be assigned a single project or a portfolio, requiring extensive planning, oversight, and communication across multiple segments, channels, or lines of business. Typically, project size may be greater than $2.5m.
- Develops strategy, processes, resource allocation, budget, guidelines and support of project management team.
- Partners with internal project liaisons to acquire resources, assigns tasks, directs activities, and controls project execution. Coaches and mentors project team members.
- Tracks and reports progress, analyzes the results based on facts, defines the products of the project, and forecasts future trends in the project. Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifies potential crises, devises contingency plans and recommends improvements based on results.
- Maintains communications for governing bodies and interested parties. Communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
