About this role

Role and Activity

This position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all straining room activities and assigning tasks including all sanitation and operator level PMs. The Process Control (Straining Room) Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the flavoring of mixes, straining of fruit, temper and thaw of ingredients, and rework. Always maintaining the highest levels of quality, safety & hygiene. This will be achieved by ensuring all mix areas are effectively coordinated through having clear knowledge and understanding of requirements, attention to detail.

- Responsible for providing coverage for vacation day off relief in the chocolate room.

- Check mix room and receiving schedules for day and week. Contact necessary points of contact (ex. Vendors, supervisors, Mix Room Manager, mix room scheduler, etc.) to make needed changes.

- Check long term scheduling for tempering and flavoring requirements.

- Check computer emails daily to ensure alignment and awareness of communication regarding changes.

- Coordinate activities required for sanitation, flavoring, and straining.

- Complete sanitation requirements and all required sanitation documentation.

- Set up equipment as needed.

- Set up and stage ingredients as needed.

- Look ahead and complete Temper Thaw as needed for flavoring.

- Complete all SAP related transactions and ensure ingredients are good to use prior to staging and using.

- Maintain inventory of and coordinate the processing of rework as necessary.

- Coordinate the tempering rework as needed.

- Complete all operator level PMs and cycle counts.

- Complete all critical documentation (ex. HACCP, QMS, Vigilistics/Circuit charts documentation) and daily paperwork/documentation.

- Participate in the Self-Inspection Audits and follow up with supervisor to ensure issues were resolved.

- Act with a sense of urgency to accomplish goals and tasks.

- Know and understand department metrics of quality, reliability and safety.

- You are responsible for your performance, efficiencies, waste, quality, safety, results.

- Follow, monitor and understand all GMP/HACCP/QMS and product safety regulations.

- Keep waste to a minimum.

- Badge in and out on time. Be at your work area as scheduled and on time to pre and post shift meetings.

- Stay focused at all times! Make timely decisions. Find root cause and solution to problems.

- Perform other job duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:

- 18 years of age or older

- Aptitude for automated mechanical processes with good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

- Excellent interpersonal communication, math and problem solving skills.

- Ability to work multiple shifts and/or schedules.

- High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience

- One-year related experience (preferred).

Work Environment:

In this position, the employee will regularly work with and around others; in a wet and/or humid environment; in areas of high noise level; and around mechanical, electrical, and pressurized equipment. The work is fast paced.

The position involves frequent exposure to nuts and other potential allergens.

- Cold Temperatures: Parts of the facility, such as storage and production areas, may be kept at low temperatures.

- Requires use of cold-protective PPE.

- May involve standing, lifting, and walking in refrigerated zones for extended periods.

- Fast-Paced: Workers often operate under strict timelines to meet production quotas.

- High-speed manufacturing floor with frequent movement, line assignment changes, and tight production timelines.

- Standing for Long Hours: Many roles require prolonged standing and repetitive tasks.

- Repetitive hand and arm movements required.

- Must be able to stand for hours with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.

- Food Safety Regulations: Employees must follow hygiene and safety guidelines, including wearing protective gear (gloves, hairnets, etc.).

- Team-Oriented: Workers collaborate to ensure smooth production and packaging.

The pay scale for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Dreyers Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The pay for prospective employees in this role is $29.77 per hour.
