The Manager, Software Engineering for Disney Experiences leads a team of specialist engineers delivering adaptable, high-quality software solutions that power magical, customer-focused experiences across our theme parks, resorts, cruise, vacation, travel, retail, and consumer offerings. In this management role, you are accountable for team performance, mentoring individual contributors, and ensuring technology outcomes align with Disney’s creative, innovative, and service-minded culture.

This role sits in the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Legal/Compliance and Finance/Member Accounting DVC Business partners.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will manage a professional engineering team, guiding them through complex technical and operational challenges while adapting to evolving departmental priorities. You will lead, mentor, and persuade stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable platforms that support Disney Experiences’ immersive, guest-centric products and services across global vacation and consumer touchpoints, ensuring quality, volume, and timeliness objectives are consistently met. This role matters because it connects engineering excellence with Disney’s business goals, requiring strong leadership, collaboration, planning, and accountability skills to be successful.

- Lead and develop a team of software engineers and related specialists, holding self and others accountable for meeting commitments and performance goals.
- Plan and prioritize team work by translating organizational and segment strategies into clear outcomes, roadmaps, and delivery milestones that align with business objectives.
- Craft and build a roadmap for delivering a world class support model and ensure ongoing health and performance of technology solutions
- Engage in estimation and planning across the organization, voicing recommendations, feedback, and solutions from a technical perspective and aligning to the overall project goals to deliver on-time & in-scope
- Collaborate across product, design, engineering, and business partners to build strong, team-oriented relationships that enable persuasive influence and effective decision-making.
- Inspire individual and business success by facing complex challenges with creativity and agility, mentoring engineers to connect their contributions to team and Disney Experiences goals.
- Define strategies, expectations, and priorities by breaking down organizational goals into well-defined outcomes, empowering team members to apply their unique talents while maintaining clear, agreed-upon results.
- Oversee finances and budgets in MyPPM, ensure accurate billing processes, and contribute to forecasting and accrual processes to maintain financial integrity and support organizational objectives
- Provide continuous coaching and feedback through timely, direct, and ongoing conversations that recognize different working styles and perspectives, fueling high performance and growth.

Required Qualifications:

- Minimum 8 years of experience in software engineering or related technology roles, including at least 3+ years in management leading professional engineering teams.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Strong ability to ensure accountability, consistently holding self and others responsible for commitments, outcomes, and delivery quality.
- Demonstrated skill in planning and prioritizing work, aligning engineering efforts with organizational and segment goals through effective road-mapping and resource management.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with a track record of building partnerships across cross-functional, matrixed teams to achieve shared objectives.
- Proven experience inspiring and mentoring individual contributors, connecting their work to team goals and broader business outcomes.
- Experience with software delivery lifecycle, including web and mobile application development, backend service development, and multi-vendor environments
- Experience with Java/J2EE architectures and cloud-based architected systems and platforms (i.e. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
- Experience with Angular and Node.js front-end and API development.
- Experience developing team members and supporting career aspirations by leveraging strengths and aligning responsibilities with personal motivations.
- Experience with Agile development approaches
- Demonstrated care, compassion, and emotional intelligence in managing teams, particularly when navigating complex or sensitive situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience leading software engineering teams within travel, hospitality, entertainment, retail, or consumer-focused industries, particularly in guest or customer experience domains.
- Background working in large, complex, matrixed technology organizations, collaborating across multiple business lines and global locations.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience driving innovation and emerging technology adoption (such as AI, ML, or advanced cloud-native architectures) to enhance guest or customer experiences.

The hiring range for this position in Orlando is $163,400.00 - $205,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
