The responsibilities of the Repair Development Team span sustaining programs to meet readiness needs of our Large Combat and Engine customers. This team is dedicated to providing safe and reliable operation of the F110, F101, F118, J85, and TF34 engines in support of the Readiness Mission for our customers.
In this role you will develop new repairs on a broad spectrum of engine components using new and existing repair technologies and inspection & manufacturing techniques. You will have engineering oversight of existing vendors with opportunity to identify and lead projects related to future repair opportunities. You will build and sustain relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including interdisciplinary engineering teams, vendors and customers. Your impact in this role will focus on GE Aerospace FLIGHT DECK principles of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost by improving customer readiness and lifecycle cost reduction.

Site, Business, OR Functional Area Overview

This role is based in Evendale, Ohio and supports repair and inspection capability development for high-precision turbomachinery components . The team develops and qualifies repair and inspection technologies, industrializes new and updated processes, and delivers program-ready solutions to repair facilities—working at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and engine assembly. (Program support may include the F110 site and related repair operations.)

Role Overview

The Repair Development Engineer is responsible for the development, qualification, and industrialization of repair and inspection technologies and for delivering program deliverables to repair facilities to enable new or updated processes. The role requires strong technical fundamentals, the ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams, and effective communication of cost/schedule progress and technical information to internal and external stakeholders.

This position operates with some autonomy within established procedures, using technical judgment to resolve issues and partnering with more senior team members when problems extend beyond defined parameters. A hands-on, collaborative approach in repair shop environments is important for success.

Key Responsibilities

- Repair & Inspection Technology Development : Develop repair and inspection technologies that enable new capability, improved producibility, or updated process requirements.
- Process Qualification & Industrialization : Qualify and industrialize new and updated repair/inspection processes, ensuring readiness for deployment into repair facilities.
- Repair Facility Deliverables : Own and execute program deliverables required to transition processes into repair operations (documentation, implementation readiness, and stakeholder alignment).
- Cross-Functional Integration : Work across engineering, manufacturing, and engine assembly to ensure robust solutions that meet technical and operational needs.
- Cost & Schedule Communication : Track and communicate schedule and cost progress; proactively identify risks and provide short- and long-term options aligned to customer and business needs.
- Technical Problem Solving : Resolve issues requiring strong technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures; consult senior team members for issues outside defined parameters.
- Project / Team Leadership : Lead multidisciplinary project teams; build alignment and accountability to deliver outcomes.
- Customer & Stakeholder Interface : For customer-facing work, develop strong customer relationships and serve as the interface between the customer and GE; explain technical information clearly in internal and external forums.

Required Qualifications

- Education : Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college (or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years repair/development engineering experience) + 4 years relevant experience.
