Role Summary:

The Senior Analyst, Software Asset Management (SAM) is an experienced SAM professional responsible for supporting the management of enterprise software assets, vendor licensing, software compliance, and associated financial governance activities across the organization.

Reporting to the Director, Value Management, the Senior Analyst manages assigned software vendors and licensing activities across a portfolio representing multi-million-dollar annual spend. This role maintains accurate license entitlements, consumption, and asset records in alignment with IT Asset Management standards; supports software renewals, true-ups, audit readiness, and compliance activities; and identifies opportunities to mitigate licensing risk, improve software cost transparency, optimize license usage, and support informed renewal and vendor management decisions.

You will be responsible for:

- Partnering closely with Data and Technology, Procurement, and Business.

- Managing assigned enterprise software vendors within the SAM program, including license records, renewals, true-ups, compliance obligations, and lifecycle activities.

- Maintaining accurate software entitlement, allocation, consumption, discovery, and reconciliation records in ServiceNow SAM Pro.

- Analyzing software usage, entitlement, and licensing data to identify optimization opportunities, cost avoidance, underutilized licenses, compliance exposure, and audit-relevant gaps.

- Supporting software renewals by validating entitlements, usage, subscriptions, contract terms, billing details, and renewal requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 3+ years of direct Software Asset Management experience in a corporate environment; this is not an entry-level SAM role.

- Hands-on experience using ServiceNow SAM Pro to maintain software entitlement, allocation, discovery, normalization, usage, and reconciliation records.

- Practical experience managing software renewals, vendor true-ups, compliance reviews, usage analysis, license reclamation, and optimization opportunities.

- Experience managing enterprise software from Microsoft, Adobe, IBM (including ILMT), Oracle, Salesforce, or similar platforms.

- Experience navigating enterprise software vendor portals and admin consoles, such as Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, IBM, VMware, Salesforce, or similar platforms.

- Strong working knowledge of software licensing, entitlements, subscriptions, contract terms, renewal requirements, and software asset lifecycle management.

- A process-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain software licensing, compliance, and optimization findings to stakeholders.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

- Experience working in a mature corporate SAM function with established practices for entitlement reconciliation, software normalization, discovery data quality, renewals, compliance, and optimization.

- Relevant certifications in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, ServiceNow SAM Pro, ITIL, or vendor licensing programs.

- Familiarity with SaaS, cloud, AI-enabled tooling, or consumption-based licensing models as they relate to software usage analysis, cost transparency, and license governance.

The expected salary range for this position is $72,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year.
