Basic Qualifications

Master's degree. Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or equivalent relevant experience is required, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a IT Security Specialist. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS: Develops and executes security controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce and web-based systems Researches attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security and designs countermeasures Maintains hardware, software and network firewalls and encryption protocolsAdministers security policies to control physical and virtual access to systemsProvides information to management regarding the negative impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and systems Individuals whose primary focus is on developing, testing, debugging and deploying code or processing routines that support security protocols for an established system or systemsApplies current computer science technologies to the design, development, evaluation, and integration of computer systems and networks to maintain system security Provides security engineering and integration services to customers Involved in a wide range of security issues including architectures, electronic data traffic and network access KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Solid knowledge of encryption algorithms (e.g., Internet Protocol Security [IPSEC], Advanced Encryption Standard [AES], Generic Routing Encapsulation [GRE], Internet Key Exchange[IKE], Message Digest Algorithm [MD5], Secure Hash Algorithm [SHA], Triple Data Encryption Standard [3DES])Solid knowledge of cryptography and cryptographic key management conceptsSolid knowledge of information technology (IT) architectural concepts and frameworksSolid knowledge of information technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g., firewalls, demilitarized zones, encryption)Solid knowledge of security system design tools, methods, and techniquesSolid knowledge of the enterprise information technology (IT) architectureSolid knowledge of the organization's enterprise information technology (IT) goals and objectivesSkill in discerning the protection needs (i.e., security controls) of information systems and networksSolid knowledge of the methods, standards, and approaches for describing, analyzing, and documenting an organization's enterprise information technology (IT) architecture (e.g., Open Group Architecture Framework [TOGAF])Solid knowledge of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standardsSolid knowledge of information technology (IT) supply chain security and risk management policies, requirements, and proceduresSolid knowledge of network security architecture concepts, including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth)Solid knowledge of security models (e.g., Bell-LaPadula model, Biba integrity model, Clark-Wilson integrity model)Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issuesFully proficient and able to perform all responsibilities associated with the positionGrasps and applies new information quickly and handles more complex assignments Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction

This is the intermediate level in a field of specialization

• Considerable understanding of verification and validation process

• Familiar with cyber security specifications such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), DIACAP, STIGs and other government security specifications and guidelines

• Skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions

• Considerable ability to clearly recognize and report relevant system security concerns and issues

• Receives and acts on instructions from immediate supervisor

• Ability to participate in and contribute to multiple work groups

• Works under general supervision

• Considerable written and verbal communications skills

• Creative thinker, good multi-tasker

• Considerable proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
