Charleston Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC) is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our Emergency team in Charleston, SC. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced veterinary assistant who enjoys emergency medicine, hands-on patient care, and working as part of a collaborative veterinary team.

Schedule

- Full-time
- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Day Shift: 8:00am–8:00pm
- Swing Shift: 2:00pm–2:00am
- Overnight Shift: 8:00pm–8:00am

Responsibilities

- Provide hands-on patient care and support Veterinary Technicians and doctors in the Emergency department
- Safely restrain and handle patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Assist with patient intake, monitoring, treatments, and daily care
- Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for procedures
- Assist with emergency and critical care patients as directed by the medical team
- Maintain clean, organized patient care and treatment areas
- Communicate effectively with Veterinary Technicians, doctors, clients, and other team members
- Follow hospital protocols and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

- At least 1 year of experience working in veterinary medicine preferred
- General practice, emergency, or specialty veterinary experience preferred
- Understanding of basic veterinary medicine and patient care
- Veterinary restraint experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced emergency environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Able to remain calm and respond appropriately during urgent and life-threatening situations
- Motivated to continue developing veterinary technical skills
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Charleston Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC) is a VECCS Level 1 certified veterinary hospital located in Charleston, SC. Our Emergency Center is staffed 24/7/365 to provide continuous emergency care to the community.

CVRC also offers a broad range of specialty services, including cardiology, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, medical oncology, rehabilitation, and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Our hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, including MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and digital radiography.
