Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Lead EMT, Flights, you will coordinate the activities of the EMT group, providing leadership and support while maintaining all duties of a staff EMT, ensuring efficient and safe Flight For Life ground ambulance operations. Every day you will participate in hiring, assist with orientation scheduling, oversee EMT credentials, manage ambulance maintenance and inspections, run the ground safety program, and provide clinical assistance to team members and Emergency Departments. You will also operate ground ambulances in a safe, professional, and efficient manner. To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced EMT with strong leadership and organizational skills, a deep understanding of ambulance operations and safety, and the ability to effectively coordinate and support the EMT team while maintaining clinical proficiency and administrative responsibilities.
- Oversees and coordinates maintenance of ambulances with repair, inspection and maintenance service.
- Oversees the orientation of new EMT’s in compliance with CAMTS and program standards.
- Conducts QI review process for Code 3 operations and follows up with EMT’s regarding compliance with policy.
- Prepares and delivers ground safety training for all flight crew members, to include Code 3 operations, use of restraints/safety devices, and survival gear.
- At direction of the flight nurse, obtains vital signs, puts the patient on CR monitor, assists in moving the patient to the CCT pram or flight stretcher, and other duties as assigned by the flight nurse.
- Writes performance appraisals of EMT crewmembers.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- One (1) year driving an ambulance in a prehospital area, and familiarity with the Denver Metro area
- Three (3) years or more of EMT experience
- Valid Colorado driver’s license with no moving violations for past two (2) years
- Winter Driving Course
- Must maintain currency in all certifications required by CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems)
