Manage the Amazone intermodal procurement program. Amazon is seeking a results-driven Program Manager, Intermodal Procurement to lead the sourcing, procurement, and lifecycle management of intermodal assets — including containers, chassis, and related equipment — across our Middle Mile transportation network. This role sits at the intersection of procurement strategy, vendor management, and operational execution, and is responsible for building demand into the supply network, negotiating with vendors, and delivering assets on time and within budget to support Amazon's rapidly scaling intermodal operations.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, can influence across multiple stakeholder groups, and has a track record of managing large-scale procurement programs with significant financial impact.

Key job responsibilities
The Program Manager, Intermodal Procurement owns the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for intermodal equipment — containers, chassis, and refrigerated units — from demand forecasting through purchase order, delivery, and asset injection into the network. A core focus is vendor and supplier management: building relationships with OEMs, leasing partners, and service vendors, and negotiating pricing, terms, warranties, and service-level agreements to drive cost savings and secure capacity. Within Middle Mile Fleet Strategy, this role partners with Finance and Operations on demand planning, translating network growth into accurate demand signals so vendors can build capacity to meet Amazon's needs.

The role carries significant financial ownership — managing budgets, building business cases and CAR documentation, and tracking OPEX/CAPEX spend in support of OP1/OP2 and 3YF planning. Success depends on cross-functional leadership to align priorities and remove blockers, and on contract and compliance management, including executing Master Service Agreements (MSAs). The Program Manager also maintains reporting mechanisms (WBRs, MBRs, QBRs) to track fleet availability, delivery milestones, and cost performance, communicates risks to senior leadership, and drives process improvements to increase speed, reduce cost, and improve quality.

A day in the life
No two days look alike. You might start by reviewing overnight delivery updates from an OEM, then jump into a negotiation call with a leasing partner to lock in pricing on the next tranche of containers. Midday, you'll partner with Finance to refine CAPEX assumptions for the 3YF plan, then join a WBR to walk leadership through fleet availability and delivery milestones. In the afternoon, you'll resolve a vendor escalation, update your demand forecast, and align with Operations on asset injection timing. You'll close the day owning the details that keep Amazon's intermodal fleet growing.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
- Knowledge of general AI tools
- Experience designing, implementing, and scaling upskilling, apprenticeship, or workforce development programs across large-scale operations or corporate environments, including forecasting workforce needs and leveraging analytics to drive program decisions

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
