POSITION SUMMARY

The Training Supervisor is responsible for leading, coordinating, and maintaining the site’s operational training program to ensure employees are properly trained, qualified, and prepared to perform their assigned responsibilities safely and effectively.

This position oversees new-hire orientation, operational and process training, material handling equipment (MHE) training and certification, refresher and remedial training, training documentation, and ongoing employee development across the site. The Training Supervisor partners closely with the General Manager, Operations leadership, Safety, P&O, and subject matter experts to identify training needs, maintain training compliance, support operational readiness, and ensure consistent training standards across departments and shifts.

The Training Supervisor serves as the site-level owner of training execution and records and provides leadership and direction to trainers, designated subject matter experts, and others involved in employee training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead and coordinate the site's new-hire orientation and operational training programs.

- Develop and maintain a structured site training plan that supports business needs, staffing plans, customer requirements, safety standards, and operational objectives.

- Coordinate training schedules for new hires, transfers, promotions, cross-training, process changes, and refresher training.

- Partner with Operations leadership to ensure employees receive appropriate job-specific training before independently performing assigned duties.

- Oversee on-the-job training programs and ensure training is delivered consistently across shifts, departments, and trainers.

- Provide direction, coaching, and support to designated trainers, subject matter experts, and employees responsible for conducting training.

- Train and coach supervisors, leads, trainers, and other employees on effective training methods and expectations.

- Coordinate and/or conduct MHE training, certification, and recertification in accordance with DSV requirements and applicable safety standards.

- Ensure employees operating forklifts or other powered industrial equipment have completed required training and certification before independent operation.

- Maintain accurate and current training records, certification records, attendance documentation, qualification records, skills matrices, and other required training documentation.

- Monitor upcoming certification expirations and coordinate recertification before credentials lapse.

- Maintain site training matrices and provide leadership with visibility into employee qualifications, outstanding training requirements, and compliance status.

- Identify employee and operational training needs through observation, performance trends, quality results, safety findings, process changes, leadership feedback, and business requirements.

- Coordinate remedial or refresher training when performance, quality, safety, or process gaps are identified.

- Partner with leadership to distinguish between training opportunities and performance/accountability concerns and ensure identified skill gaps are appropriately addressed.

- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through observation, employee performance, operational results, feedback, and other available measures.

- Recommend modifications to training content or delivery methods when opportunities for improvement are identified.

- Ensure training materials, Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, visual aids, and related resources are current and available to employees and trainers.

- Coordinate training associated with new processes, systems, equipment, customer requirements, or operational changes.

- Support site startup, expansion, peak periods, and other significant operational initiatives by developing and coordinating appropriate training plans.

- Partner with Safety to reinforce safe work practices and ensure required safety-related training is completed and documented.

- Support training related to OSHA requirements, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, emergency procedures, PPE, hazardous materials, Lockout/Tagout, or other applicable requirements based on employee responsibilities.

- Partner with P&O and Operations on onboarding activities and employee development initiatives as appropriate.

- Work with Operations leadership to identify cross-training opportunities that improve staffing flexibility and operational coverage.

- Support leadership development and training initiatives for leads, supervisors, and other site employees as directed by the General Manager.

- Track and report training metrics, completion rates, outstanding requirements, certification status, and other training-related KPIs to site leadership.

- Participate in audits and provide required training documentation and records.

- Ensure training documentation is maintained accurately and in accordance with DSV recordkeeping requirements.

- Monitor compliance with established training processes and escalate gaps or risks to the appropriate site leadership.

- Promote a culture of continuous learning, safety, accountability, quality, and operational excellence.

- Stay current on applicable DSV training requirements, customer requirements, operational procedures, and industry best practices.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Training Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and oversight for site training activities and may directly supervise assigned trainers or other training personnel depending on site structure.

Responsibilities may include assigning and prioritizing training activities, coordinating trainer coverage across shifts, monitoring training quality and performance, coaching and developing trainers, and ensuring training activities are completed accurately and timely.

The Training Supervisor also provides functional direction to supervisors, leads, subject matter experts, and other employees responsible for delivering or supporting training.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

- High school diploma or GED required.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in warehousing, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or a similar operational environment.

- Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting, coordinating, or supporting employee training, onboarding, or operational development.

- Previous experience providing leadership, work direction, coaching, or supervision preferred.

- Experience with warehouse processes, Standard Operating Procedures, safety requirements, and operational training.

- Experience operating and/or training employees on material handling equipment preferred.

- Must be able to work flexible hours and support multiple shifts as business and training needs require.

- Must be able to work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.

- Must be able to work overtime as dictated by business needs.

COMPUTER SKILLS

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Ability to utilize learning management systems, training databases, HRIS platforms, or other systems used to track employee training and qualifications.

- Ability to learn and effectively utilize DSV and customer systems as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

- Ability to clearly explain procedures, processes, safety requirements, and job expectations to diverse audiences.

- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate Standard Operating Procedures, work instructions, training materials, safety requirements, and other operational documentation.

- Bilingual skills preferred where appropriate to the employee population.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

- Ability to perform basic and intermediate mathematical calculations.

- Ability to calculate and interpret training completion rates, productivity information, percentages, measurements, and other operational or training data.

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES

- Must obtain and maintain required DSV MHE certification(s), as applicable to the site.

- Must complete any required Train-the-Trainer or instructor certification within the timeframe established by DSV.

- OSHA, powered industrial truck, safety training, or other relevant instructor certifications preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Associate or bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Education, Training & Development, Human Resources, or a related field.

- Previous supervisory experience in a warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing facility, or similar operation.

- Experience developing or administering warehouse training programs.

- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or electronic training-record systems.

- Experience training and certifying employees on powered industrial trucks or other MHE.

- Experience supporting new-site startup, operational implementation, or large-scale hiring and onboarding.

- Experience developing training materials, job aids, Standard Operating Procedures, or work instructions.

- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred based on site needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate, sit, stand, and walk throughout the facility.

The employee may frequently be required to bend, reach, push, pull, squat, kneel, and demonstrate warehouse processes or equipment operation.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as required and must be physically capable of safely demonstrating applicable operational tasks and material handling equipment procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work in both office and warehouse/distribution environments and may be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, dust, moving equipment, and other conditions typical of an operational facility.

The position requires regular presence on the operations floor to observe training, evaluate employee competency, support trainers, and partner with site leadership.

Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required.

For this position, the expected base pay range is $63,360.00 – $79,200.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
