We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Registrar & Recruitment Specialist to support our admissions efforts, strengthen community recruitment, and guide prospective learners through the full application and enrollment process.
Position Overview
The Registrar & Recruitment Specialist plays a key role in building the adult learner pipeline, providing high-quality support to prospective students, and ensuring accurate and compliant enrollment documentation. The position combines student recruitment, outreach, data management, community engagement, and administrative responsibilities. The role may be assigned to either campus based on organizational need and may rotate between Ward 5 and Ward 8 during employment.
This position requires strong communication skills, cultural humility, excellent organization, and the ability to support adult learners with a wide range of needs and backgrounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Student Recruitment and Outreach
- Develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies to engage prospective adult learners across Washington, D.C.
- Serve as the first point of contact for prospective learners, including answering calls, greeting walk-ins, and responding to inquiries.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute recruitment events such as Open Houses, Information Sessions, workshops, and community engagement activities.
Territory Representative Support
- Coordinate and support volunteers and Territory Representatives assigned to designated D.C. wards.
- Provide training, tools, and ongoing communication to ensure strong representation and outreach performance.
Application and Enrollment Support
- Guide prospective learners through the application, intake, and documentation process.
- Assist learners who may have literacy, language, speech, or technology barriers in completing enrollment requirements.
- Monitor application completion and follow up with prospective learners to support movement through the enrollment funnel.
Data, Tracking, and Compliance
- Monitor and report on application completion rates, conversion data, and enrollment trends.
- Input and maintain accurate and timely data in Salesforce and other databases.
- Conduct enrollment file reviews to ensure compliance with OSSE requirements, internal policies, and term audit expectations.
Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, workforce partners, agencies, and local stakeholders.
- Represent AoH at community events, resource fairs, and recruitment partnerships.
Administrative and Departmental Support
- Provide general administrative support to the Admissions team.
- Assist with verification of enrollment documentation, enrollment tracker updates, and learner communications.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping for enrollment, verification, and reporting.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in admissions, enrollment, advising, sales, customer service, or other transferable experience.
- Strong communication skills and comfort making high-volume phone calls.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including multilingual learners, returning citizens, and learners with limited literacy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite; CRM experience (Salesforce) preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work at least two evenings per week; occasional weekend availability is required.
- Commitment to AoHs mission and to working in a culturally responsive, learner-centered environment.
Work Schedule and Environment
- This position requires afternoon and evening hours weekly.
- Occasional weekends are required for community outreach and recruitment efforts.
- Work location may rotate between Ward 5 and Ward 8 based on learner needs and operational requirements.

AoH offers a competitive salary within the range of $50,822.80 – $ 78,297.70 for this position. Salary placement within this range is determined by a candidates relevant experience, demonstrated competencies, and alignment with the required qualifications.
