IBM is looking for a Systems Services Representative (SSR) to join our team and serve as the trusted technical advisor for clients throughout the Knoxville area. In this field-based role, you'll be the face of IBM, providing on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support for IBM and multi-vendor server environments. You'll work directly with customers to resolve technical issues, optimize system performance, and ensure their critical IT infrastructure operates at its best. What You'll Do Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, coordinating hardware and software support. Deliver exceptional on-site service, including installation, maintenance, upgrades, and repair of enterprise systems. Advise clients on preventive maintenance, system configuration, and operational best practices to maximize performance and reliability. Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues while managing critical situations through resolution. Support IBM and multi-vendor environments, helping customers minimize downtime and maintain business continuity. Travel throughout the assigned territory to provide responsive, customer-focused support. What We're Looking For Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Customer service experience and a commitment to client success. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to follow technical procedures and complete equipment repairs. Basic computer hardware knowledge, including components such as hard drives, memory, and networking fundamentals. Comfort working with laptops, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment. What You'll Do As an IBM Systems Services Representative, you'll play a vital role in keeping our clients' environments running smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include: Serving as the primary technical point of contact for customers, coordinating hardware and software support activities. Diagnosing and resolving complex server and infrastructure issues across multi-vendor environments. Providing expert guidance on preventive maintenance, system configuration, operational best practices, and environmental conditions that impact performance. Managing critical situations from start to resolution, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations. Performing installations, upgrades, relocations, system assurance activities, and equipment decommissioning for IBM and non-IBM technologies. Traveling throughout your assigned territory to provide on-site support and deliver a world-class customer experience. Ideal candidate will possess hardware and/or software support, commitment to Client Success, and the following skills: • Have experience in Customer Service & Customer Interaction • Have basic computer knowledge (e.g., knows what a hard drive, RAM, memory DIMM, IP address) • Can demonstrate mechanical aptitude, and given the appropriate tools follow instructions to perform a repair or replacement (e.g. follow the instructions of a hardware maintenance manual to successfully complete a repair/replacement) • Be comfortable using and working with various tools (e.g. laptop, screw driver, pry tool, needle nose pliers, wrench) to complete necessary installation, maintenance or repair tasks This role requires candidates to have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle!
