3rd Shift Rollman
Function: Rollman is responsible for care, control, and distribution of yarns to the knitting department to meet the companys business needs in a timely and efficient manner.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Use safe lifting techniques. Do not lift more than 75 pounds without assistance.
- Get supervisor clearance before performing any operation that may result in injury.
- Do not stack rolls over three high on the roll buggy.
- Buggies must be pushed. Do not pull buggy.
- Assure emergency aisles remain clear and not blocked by buggies or re-cycling.
Timing Considerations:
- Roll Service is expected to be on the job in time to understand the situations and to make an effective shift break. They are expected to remain on the job until relieved appropriately.
- Timetables, deadlines and other time commitments must be met consistently.

Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Using the yarn man knitting machine schedule- by machine number and description number or yarn request form, verify the line location of the yarn in the warehouse once located, verify the yarn is the correct size, type, filament color, color number and lot number
- Once located, verify the yarn is the correct size, type, filament color, color number and lot number
- Pull the yarn from the line, separating it from the other cases and pallets
- Scan the case & pallet numbers to be deleted from inventory or complete yarn pull sheet to be scanned later for the specific machine the yarn is being taken to. If the scanner is not functioning, yarn can be put in via AS400 15-4-5.
- Take the yarn to the floor for the machine it was scanned for. Take only the cases/pallets that were scanned.
- Fill out and post yarn identification sign at the machine.
- If the yarn is pulled by the forklift and carried to the flaps at repack or the time clock, treat the flaps the same as a line and follow the preceding steps.
Repacking:
- All cones on a pallet or in a case must be verified to be the same size, ply, filament, type, lot #, and vendor
- Filament yarn is bagged and repacked in a box or is repacked on an appropriate pallet
- Any machines not stripped must be reported within 2 days of receiving the repack report
- All cases of 50 lbs. closed out lots (meaning no cases/pallets of the same lot are in the warehouse) are reviewed to verify if it should be repacked or disposed
- Approximate cone count is taken (within 5 cones)
- The case/pallet is weighed before being strapped
Ensure to tare the weight appropriately
- The warehouse location is determined before making the repack label
- Repack label is made after pallets and cases are wrapped/strapped
- Bring the repacked pallets/cases to their appropriate predetermined locations
- Keep lanes neat and organized
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Physical abilities to stand, walk and kneel on concrete floors, climb ladders, move 75-pound rolls and reach above head.
- Visual capabilities to read tickets, sheets and scales.
- Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English to read tickets, instructions, reports and manuals, and to complete documentation required of the job. Sufficient math abilities to read weights, subtract tare, and accurately record information on labels and the computer.
- Ability to obtain Forklift license.
- Must comply with all safety, quality and production requirements and instructions.
