Position Overview

The Project Manager leads the end-to-end delivery of complex, large-scale turnkey subsea fiber optic cable systems, from pre-award support and contract handover through engineering, procurement, manufacture, marine installation, testing, acceptance and final close-out. The role is accountable for safe, compliant and commercially successful delivery in accordance with contractual scope, schedule, budget, quality requirements and customer expectations.

Working through a matrix organization, the Project Manager provides clear direction to multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality, finance, commercial, permitting, marine operations and installation. The role establishes the project strategy and governance framework, aligns stakeholders around key milestones and leads timely resolution of technical, operational, contractual and commercial issues.

As the principal customer interface, the Project Manager leads project level communications, negotiations, decision making, formal notices, change control and performance reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The role proactively identifies risks and opportunities, implements effective mitigation plans and adapts execution strategies to protect safety, quality, schedule, margin, cash flow and the companys contractual position.

Responsibilities

- Lead one or more turnkey subsea fiber optic cable projects from pre-award and contract handover through engineering, manufacture, marine installation, commissioning, acceptance and close-out.

- Define the project execution strategy, organization, governance, objectives, lifecycle plan, work breakdown structure, schedule, budget and reporting cadence.

- Build, lead and motivate a cross-functional project team, establishing clear roles, accountabilities, decision paths and performance expectations.

- Act as the primary customer contact for commercial, contractual, technical, schedule and delivery matters, maintaining constructive relationships with customers, suppliers, partners and other key stakeholders.

- Own project profit and loss, revenue, margin, cash flow, billing milestones, forecasts and cost control; identify and pursue opportunities to improve project margin and revenue, investigate variances and implement corrective action.

- Manage the contract, including scope, deliverables, terms and conditions, technical requirements, milestones, acceptance criteria and customer obligations.

- Lead change control, claims and commercial negotiations; issue timely contractual notices and maintain complete records that protect the companys entitlements and position.

- Maintain an integrated project risk and opportunity register, assign owners and ensure mitigation and contingency actions are implemented and monitored.

- Coordinate engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance, logistics, permitting, marine mobilization, cable installation, testing and commissioning interfaces.

- Ensure project activities comply with contractual requirements, the companys management systems and applicable health, safety, environmental, quality and regulatory standards.

- Monitor progress against the approved baseline, identify emerging issues, lead recovery planning and escalate material matters to senior leadership with clear recommendations.

- Prepare accurate and concise project reports covering safety, quality, schedule, cost, cash, risk, changes, decisions and actions.

- Secure contractual acceptance, complete financial and commercial close-out, coordinate operational handover and capture lessons learned to improve future project delivery.

- Promote a collaborative, accountable and inclusive project culture aligned with the companys values and commitment to high performance.

Qualifications

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in engineering, business, project management or a related technical discipline; an advanced degree or recognized project management certification is desirable.

- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience managing complex, multidisciplinary projects in subsea telecommunications, marine construction, offshore installation or a comparable turnkey environment.

- Demonstrated capability in project planning and controls, profit-and-loss management, forecasting, cash flow, margin improvement, risk management and contract administration.

- Working knowledge of the subsea cable project lifecycle, including system engineering, procurement, cable manufacture, permits, marine operations, installation, testing, acceptance and handover would be preferable

- Strong commercial judgement, with experience in contractual interpretation, customer negotiation, change control, claims and formal correspondence.

- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams within a matrix organization.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability, with the judgement to manage ambiguity, competing priorities and complex delivery issues.

- Clear and persuasive written, verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, project teams and senior leadership.

- High personal accountability, sound decision-making and the ability to work independently while maintaining strong governance and stakeholder alignment.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, together with project planning, reporting and document-control tools.

- Fluent written and spoken English; additional language capability is advantageous for international projects.

- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, including to customer, supplier, manufacturing, cable landing and marine mobilization locations, as required.
