We anticipate the need for one or more Maintenance Repairman Apprentice (Power Production) to be located at Prairie Island Nuclear Plant located in Welch, MN. The starting rate of pay for this position is $32.91 hourly as defined in the labor agreement. This position will be posted for 10 working days from September 22nd, 2026, to October 5th, 2026.

Summary

This person(s) will be responsible for general maintenance, the safe disassembly and reassembly of plant components using standard maintenance tools. Must be able to operate overhead cranes and mobile equipment.

Required

- Will be required to enroll and complete the approved training course as agreed to by the joint apprenticeship committee
- Will be required to perform duties when necessary from scaffolds and catwalks in high and confined areas.
- Will be required to function under written plant maintenance procedures as appropriate and document records as required by plant management.
- May be required to accept temporary assignments at other plants, including nuclear plants, as directed by plant management.
- May be required to meet screening requirements under NRC regulations.
- Must be able to be respirator qualified
- Must have the ability to intelligently communicate with plant personnel both verbally and in writing.
- Must pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) MASS exam
- Will be required to actively participate in training and retraining programs as directed by plant management.
- Must have a reasonable leave of learning ability to develop basic understanding of nuclear plant maintenance and procedures.

A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).

Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $49.64 to $52.95 per hour
