Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Principal Electronics Engineer – Radar to join the team of qualified individuals on our Avionics Integration Organization. This role is located onsite in San Diego (Rancho Bernardo), CA.

This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization. This is a position within the Mission Systems Integrated Product Team (MS IPT) responsible for developing, delivering, and sustaining the mission payloads (Radar) on air vehicle and ground segments. The selected candidate will directly support the Radar Responsible Engineer for the Sensors/Payload team.

This role requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time . Once in role, this position could offer a hybrid work environment. Scheduled telework days are approved at manager's discretion.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with activities on the Radar team (internal and suppliers) to build and integrate the Radar sensor on the aircraft and ground segment systems
- Provide technical oversight and reviews of engineering from Radar supplier
- Help manage technical risks, opportunities, and issues
- Support the Responsible Engineer in reporting of status and tasking to IPT Leads, Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and other management
- Research, design, develop, test, produce, integrate, and sustain a variety of electronic equipment and systems both directly and indirectly related to the Radar Sensor (circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment)
- Support testing and integration activities within the engineering lab and at the testing/production facility

Basic Qualifications:

- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) AND 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline AND 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline AND 1 year of related professional/military experience.
- Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, organization skills, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Must have experience with coding & scripting languages (i.e., MATLAB, Python)
- Must have experience with data analysis processes and techniques
- Must have experience performing System Integration
- Must have experience with Linux Operating Systems
- Must have experience identifying, tracking, and working technical issues
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience supporting ground and flight test events onsite
- Experience in an engineering lab environment
- Experience with Post-Flight Analysis
- Experience training other engineers
- Experience with aerospace development, production, and operations
- Proficient with Linux
- Experience with Cybersecurity requirements and approvals
- Experience with Wireshark and Network Analysis
- Experience communicating complex technical concepts to Customer and Program
- Experience with Imagery Analysis
- Subsystem experience in at least 1 of the following:
- EOIR
- SIGINT
- RADAR
- AIRBORNE RECORDERS

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
