Jackson North Medical Center is a 382-bed, full-service acute care hospital delivering comprehensive medical and surgical care, supported by a high-volume emergency department managing over 60,000 ED visits annually. The campus features 24/7 adult and pediatric emergency care, advanced cardiac care, orthopedics, urology, maternity and women's health, bariatrics, stroke care, neurosciences, and robust rehabilitation programs. Serving tens of thousands of patients each year, Jackson North is a vital access point for high-quality care in North Miami-Dade and a key extension of Jackson Health System's academic and specialty services, ensuring seamless, world - class care close to home.

Leadership Scope

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is the operational executive for Jackson North Medical Center, reporting to the CEO and holding a core seat on the hospital's executive leadership team. This position delivers strategic oversight, financial stewardship, and operational leadership across our 382-bed acute care campus and 60,000+ annual emergency department visits. Expanding past traditional operational boundaries, this executive manages high-acuity clinical areas, diagnostic centers, and service lines to ensure seamless care delivery across the hospital.

Key responsibilities include:

- High-Acuity Operations & Patient Flow : Executive oversight of daily hospital operations, patient flow, and high-acuity clinical and procedural departments, including Surgical Services (OR), Interventional Radiology (IR) / Cath Lab, Gastroenterology (GI), Diagnostic Imaging, and Laboratory Services.
- Service Line Integration : Local execution, management, and integration of health-system clinical service lines and strategic initiatives across the Jackson North campus.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance : Driving continuous quality improvement, patient safety, patient experience, and regulatory compliance across all departments (Joint Commission, CMS, Leapfrog).
- Financial Stewardship: Direct management of financial performance, operational budgets, labor productivity, variance analyses, and capital improvement projects.
- Capital Strategic Portfolio: Leads a significant capital strategic planning portfolio focused on clinical space renovations and modernization initiatives. Offers the opportunity to define capital priorities and partner with executive and clinical leadership to drive projects that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, clinical growth, and the overall patient experience.
- Operational Leadership & Risk: Leadership in operational problem-solving, risk management, emergency preparedness, and facility development.
- Culture & Talent Development: Fostering workforce competency, talent development, succession planning, and cultivating a high-performance culture grounded in accountability and collaboration.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a mission-driven, forward-thinking operational executive with:

- A master's degree strongly preferred
- 10+ years of senior operational leadership experience in complex, safety - net, or academic health systems
- A proven track record of optimizing hospital operations, patient flow, and clinical support services
- Strong strategic, operational, and financial acumen
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Commitment to serving diverse and underserved communities
