The Role

Join Lumen as a Field Technician I and play a critical role in supporting and maintaining telecommunications and network infrastructure. This entry-level field operations position is ideal for individuals with foundational technical expertise who are eager to build a long-term career in the industry. Following a comprehensive training program, you will work hands-on with network equipment, fiber infrastructure, and power systems while supporting day-to-day operational needs. The Main Responsibilities

- Support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications and network infrastructure.
- Perform field-based technical work involving fiber optics, network systems, and power-related components.
- Follow established procedures and safety standards while completing assigned tasks.
- Diagnose and resolve routine technical issues to support operational reliability.
- Utilize company-provided tools, equipment, and vehicles to perform field assignments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and completed assignments.
- Collaborate with technicians and cross-functional teams to support business operations.
- Meet performance expectations by completing assignments accurately and on schedule.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Minimum

- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of technical, telecommunications, networking, electrical, or related experience.
- Basic understanding of DC and AC power concepts.
- Knowledge of fiber optic technologies and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure and related technical environments.
- Ability to learn new technologies and apply technical training in a field environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company-provided vehicle.
- Ability to work a standard Monday through Friday schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Preferred

- Experience supporting telecommunications, network operations, or field service environments.
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with hardware, cabling, or infrastructure systems.
- Technical training, certifications, or coursework related to networking, telecommunications, or electrical systems.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a geographically distributed team.
- Experience working in customer-facing or field-based environments.
- Demonstrated desire to build a long-term career in telecommunications and network operations.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$45,021 - $60,027 in these states: TX
